"Small Circle of Friends" is a great tune - I'm surprised Billy Bragg or REM or someone else hasn't covered it. The topical stuff is a bit dated though. I have Chords of Fame too, as well as that Canadian import "Gunfight At Carnegie Hall".

Years ago I had read a biography of Phil Ochs called Death of a Rebel or something like that. Apparently the last couple of years of his life he was profoundly depressed and often delusional, while also drinking heavily. It's sad really - he was a very talented composer and performer.

Yes it is - Really brings back memories of my college and hippie days. It's a shame he off'd himself but I wonder if he would have been able to make the transition away from being mainly a protest singer.
