Yes, here's where the monopoly the electrician's union has secured for itself with government comes in.  In order to comply with code, you have to pay them to come install the correct wring/socket so that the city/county can then send an inspector who will charge another fee to say that it's safe.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Are you guys not allowed to put your own sockets in?  We can here, as long as your insurance company are OK with it (most are).

We installed one that was just like that... black goes to black, white goes to white, the copper wire goes to the green ground... and (oh yeah) be sure the breaker is flipped OFF first... its real easy. Srsly call appy if you need him to walk you through it.  Its a piece of cake.

Ahh.  I see - we just stick with our 220V all the way (mostly).  And I take it a temporary fix of a 220 extension cord is out of the question because the plug socket would be the wrong voltage?
And Scott, Slabby - if they get busy with the wire cutters, then there won't be a dishwasher come thanksgiving.  However, if they buy my flights over there and feed me and give me some floor space, there will be some form of dishwashing service.

Nononono - never ever ever run an appliance that has a grounded plug off of an extension!  That's an electrical fire waiting to happen.
