I think I must have had 2 pairs in succession. I remember dad being miffed that I got fruit boots again but mom thought they looked good, weren't sneakers, and only cost like $8 or $10.

Yeah, there was a guy in our neighborhood who was a few years older than my friends and I, and he had a pair of those too; they were pretty much disintegrated after the first winter.
