Plenty of punch-ups, though, towards the other end of the emotional spectrum. Even Spock gets into the fisticuffs...in fact, he has sort of a short fuse, when you come right down to it. Maybe his human half is Irish? He does have green blood and all...
Saw this in the theater and loved it! I have watched it at least 3 times at home and love it even more. It is now my "go to movie" the movie I watch when i can't think of anything else. (Live Free or Die Hard was my previous "go to movie")
Hope the follow up movies will be as good.
I do, too... the potential is there, they have a great cast. They just need to stick with great writers and a great director/producer team, too.

I'm getting all excited just thinking about it! I want MORE!!
Our second viewing was on our home theater system, this week in our own living room... lights out, snacks and each other in hand, sound thundering the walls. It was a great date night.
Just a note , here ( kind of a fan... ) It took the second viewing for me, at home to 'get it'. Actually do like it now, seeing its place in the TREK universe. First viewing , at show left me somewhat dazzled, in a bad way, not sure why Spock , or ANYbody did what they did. Just made a whole lot better sense, plot, timelines, love interests... THEN, B-
NOW, A-
as you were.
I bet when you watch it a 3rd time, it'll be an A.
Our 3rd view was at home, on our old tiny TV. We loved the first 2 watches, and just loved it more, and refuse to watch it again until we have at least a 26" TV.
We loved the characters even more, and can't wait to see more of them. We enjoyed the intentional cheesiness, like the whole chase scene on the snow planet. We enjoyed the special effects. The funnies were even funnier. We nearly recited out loud alongside Uhura when she (somewhat awkwardly) stumbles upon the introduction of the new Star Wars 'verse... say it with me now... "an alternate reality."
It's great filmmaking, great entertainment. I'm getting all excited just thinking about it! I want MORE!!
I dug it. I loved that they wiped the "Star Trek Universe" slate clean, made Spock hot, and injected action and color into it. It was a fun movie, a worthy successor.
