According to its Web site, the church is scheduled to protest at several locations in Virginia and West Virginia, Thursday through Sunday, including at the West Virginia state capitol and the Hillel (a Jewish org) on the Virginia Tech campus.

I guess the mine accident had nothing to do with the more than 1,000 violations that Massey received.

btw, Don Blankenship, owner of the mine, is a Tea Party financier and proud of his union busting credentials.

Yes, one would not have to be an authority on mental health to deduce that the assaulting-driver guy in Tennessee is pretty clearly a bona fide lunatic.  Whether or not he or his attorneys will allege that he was goaded into his crimes by inflammatory rhetoric from broadcast pundits remains to be seen - but anyone who can do something that psychotic probably doesn't require much goading from anyone.

Sticker rage: Tenn. man charged with ramming his SUV into car with Obama/Biden sticker

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A 70-year-old Nashville man was accused of ramming his sport utility vehicle several times into the back of a vehicle that had a Obama/Biden bumper sticker. Harry K. Weisiger, a retiree, made obscene gestures and pointed at the campaign sticker for President Barack Obama and running mate Joe Biden before he smashed into schoolteacher Mark Duren's car, police said. Weisiger has been charged with reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of the accident and refusing to take a field sobriety test.

The incident appears to be among the overheated partisan political atmosphere, including death threats sent to members of Congress and their families who supported health care reform.

Duren had picked up his 10-year-old daughter from school Thursday when he stopped near the Belmont University campus. An SUV pulled up behind his Toyota Camry and the driver began honking and gesturing angrily toward the bumper sticker, The Tennessean reported.

"I raised my hands palms up and shrugged. He then eased up behind my car so I could only see the grille of his SUV and blew his car horn, nonstop," Duren told the newspaper.

As Duren drove home, the SUV's driver continued making gestures and pointing at the sticker, according to a police report.

The driver, identified by Nashville police as Weisiger, accelerated and crashed into the bumper, directly over the sticker.

Duren tried to calm his frightened daughter as he stopped and Weisiger rammed it again, trying to push it off the road, police said. After a few more pushes, the SUV sped away and Duren called 911.

A neighbor followed the SUV to a grocery store, where police said they found Weisiger trying to pop a breath mint and insisting that he had "not much" to drink.

Weisiger's acquaintances described him as a responsible businessman and a father of four with no history of violent behavior.

"He was just a loyal employee, with no previous incidents of any sort like the one being described," said Patrick Parker, spokesman for Hardaway Construction Corp., where Weisiger worked for 25 years before retiring in 2008. "You never know, I guess."

Calls to his home by The Associated Press went unreturned Sunday.

Duren hasn't decided whether to replace the sticker.

"The anger is bleeding from political discussions into other aspects of society," he said. "I'd like to tell people, look, we can discuss things we disagree about. You don't have to bash someone's car because you disagree with what's on a bumper sticker."

I tune in to BigGovernment sometimes to see what's up. Mostly hateful, bullying, frustrated rhetoric. Still, it's a small, loud segment of the population that you have to watch. Just you have to watch your toddlers. They're aren't much, but they can make a mess.

Here's something in response to Michelle "Loonball" Bachman's insistence to repeal the health care act:

cowboy logic wrote:
Rep. Bachman,
"It kills jobs, it kills opportunity, it kills promises that taxes wont rise, and we all know it will be a killer to the unborn."

You couldn't be more correct. I notified my employees this morning that effective Dec. 31st of this year, I will no longer employ them. Some of those people have been with me for many years. Everything is relevant, and in the grand scheme of things, my contribution is miniscule to society. They do make however, a better than average income. Each employee, with base salary, my payroll taxes contribution, the health care that I provide them, and the perks and benefits, cost me a little over one hundred thousand dollars per person. I am laying off 11 people.
That is 1.1 million dollars that will be taken out of the economy.

There is NOTHING that Barrack Hussein Obama can do, to SAVE those jobs. It is over, it is done. I might be one of the first, but I won't be the last to lay off my workforce.

I will no longer be attacked, nor fight my government to survive, nor will I foot the bill for ne'er-do-wells and leeches who suck on the government teat.

Joe Wilson stood up in Congress and shouted "YOU LIE" to Obama.

I just stood up, and in my own small way said "F**K You" to Obama.
I did a Joe Wilson, in my own way.

Time to Go Galt. Plant a garden. Do what is important.
People who are capital capable, need to find other ways to do things.
Time to convert to a no plastic, all cash society, and I'm not speaking environmentally...........

As soon as we got on the metro out in suburban VA, we knew that something was up. Lots of people of Latin American descent were on the train with American flag teeshirts and with American flags in their hands.

When we got to the Smithsonian stop on the Metro, the station was absoluted jammed. We knew then that there was some sort of march or protest scheduled, and then looked around to see what it was all about. As we got to the escalators we saw organizers from the SEIU herding people this way and that. They all had purple tee shirts on and were telling people where to go and what to do. As one of them tried to tell me not to use the use the one remaining working escalator (this is the Metro, afterall, the falling apart public transit system), I asked him how much SEIU was paying him to "volunteer" for this Sunday afternoon event. "$50 bucks!" he replied, showing me a toothy grin. "Isn't that great?"

I had seen plenty of these "volunteers" manning the polls and intimidating voters back in the good ole Commonwealth of Massachusetts, so I knew how they operated. The SEIU pays their members to attend rallies and to hold protests outside their opponents' events. The SEIU preys on their members by directing their union dues towards attack ads that slander candidates that SEIU doesn't like (a/k/a Republicans).

When we got to the top of the staircase and out onto the mall, there were Purple Shirts everywhere telling people what to do and where to go. The stacks of speakers all had SEIU signs on them and it was impossible to miss who had sponsored and organized the event.

Yet, on television tonight, all the media showed was hopeful, idealistic people looking for "immigration reform." No mention of SEIU, and not shots of the Purple Shirts or any of their ubiquitous signage. I wondered how it was that the news crew was able to put together a sixty second story without showing ANY SEIU influence.

Although I disagree with the reasoning that leads to the conclusion, I am not at odds with the conclusion. As for being repelling, is it the people, or is it the way they're being presented by the media? Because, I saw with my own eyes, how the anti-war movement was media mislabeled by the focused representation of the actions of a very few on the fringe..

Most of us see political movements thru the lens of the media, and there are cheerleaders and detractors in that media. If you watch Fox News you won't see skinheads with swastika tattoos at Tea Party rallies. If you watch MSNBC you won't see anybody who can complete a sentence at one. But the lack of any kind of unifying philosophy behind the movement means they don't have a coherent message, so there's no way for the leadership to stand up and say "these people don't represent our movement, because our movement means this."

If a movement is defined only by what it is against then any opposition to its enemies is part of the movement, no matter what that opposition's motives or tactics are. That allows the movement's enemies to paint it as the ugliest of its members, however inaccurate that may be.
