I should add that at least right in that area you really are on pretty solid ground. All those tourists have driven up there in passenger cars parked just behind you. Even my friend who had much better judgement about that sort of thing than I do had no problem up there (aside from the leash and having to stay off the trails that is). There were places around the rim of the canyon where he wouldn't pose like this for me.
