Some friends of ours had a kid who didn't eat much meat but also didn't like cheese. Very picky eater and by tsk-tsking him, we got ourselves a similar picky eater. But their kid, when they went to McDonald's, would order a cheeseburger with no cheese. The mom would stand behind him making stern faces at the cashier to just do what he says and nobody gets hurt. If the cashier needed clarification, mom would mouth "hamburger" but if they said out loud anything to indicate there was burger on a cheeseburger or that a cheeseburger with no cheese, that's a hamburger... mom would have to get the manager. She eventually knew which cashiers were parents and wouldn't react like the kid was from mars. He's now about 6'3" and 180# so his no-bacon policy hasn't slowed him down any.

Fireworks packaging is getting a bit more sophisticated (offset) but in the 80s you could still get some awesome letterpress stuff. I had a Black Cat poster that was as cool as anything Hatch Show Print puts out, except it was on something approaching tissue paper. I ruined it trying to dry-mount it.

I remember trying to save several of the cooler firecracker labels years back, but they were printed on very thin paper and eventually disintegrated, even if I managed to keep them flattened out.

I think that they were referring to those fine-line markers made by Paper♥Mate.  "Everyday" is probably blue or black, but the 'emergency' ones must be red or orange.  With the pens taking up all that space, I wonder where they keep the emergency marine flares.
