Sorry, we're behind the times here. There really isn't another person at the place who would have the same responsibilities. If there were, say, 3 working side by side, one could be responsible for putting the work orders into the computer... but right now everything comes in handwritten. Reading between the lines, though, it really would be a good job for someone with a couple of years' experience who wants to have a job with a pretty high level of responsibility. Once they hire, the current person will train for a month or so and then leave the new person to go it alone. But relocating is required, I'm sure. But... it's worth asking!

I've gotten them before, all from people who wanted to show me a portfolio. Shitcanned without looking. I would take the same presentation in a PDF tho. I don't have MS Office on my machine, but I do have Acrobat. I'm in the minority, I am sure, but I would prefer all resumes to come in on PDF. edit: if it were an attachment to a normal resume, it would still get trashed w/o looking at it because that's just me but if the actual resume part were interesting I *might* ask for the portfolio on PDF. I haven't had the occasion to look for help lately tho so I'm sure the standard has changed a little.

There used to be quite a few oilfield guys who worked in Riyadh, and a high school classmate of mine teaches in Jeddah. I think they have areas where Americans can be a little informal without worrying about offending the locals.

I've gotten a couple of solicitations for Singapore. Interesting opportunities, but it would be huge upheaval and Singapore is one of the world's most expensive cities. I'd sort of like to do the expat thing for a year or two, but it has to really make sense and wind up being a windfall to make it worth the hassle. 40 days of leave would rock though!

You could talk to Mugro, he lives there. Very strict rules, I think women need to be covered up, no pda, etc.
