There's nothing better than travel to broaden one's mind and to perhaps gain an understanding of other cultures.

We are in agreement - alert the media. {#Lol}

Yes, the walmart/foxspews/oprah/goodmorningamerica/newcarevery2.5yearsetc perspective is rather limited in its ability to identify with anyone outside the typical American suburban landscape.  Hell, most folks around here have difficulty imagining the idea of riding public transport on a regular basis.

Here's one: participate. Democracy isn't for the lazy, the cynical, or the disengaged.

Here's another: listen. If everyone shouts, no one gets heard. Two ears, one mouth - think about it.

And the third? Grow up. It's not always good and evil, right and wrong. Sometimes it's Coke and Pepsi.

I've lately been having, as an after work happy hour, a few of the Red Hook Long Hammer IPAs and New Belgium 2° Below Ales. Not Budweiser, not Miller, not Coors. But they need to be sipped while cold, even in chilly weather. Higher alcohol content warms you up, not the temperature.

I hope the same thing. Because most American mass market "beer" must be drunk extremely cold, in order to be barely palatable.

There are some northern European habits we in warmer climes will never adopt, and I think this is one of them.
