I think you should be required, if under 21, to get a license to raise a child. Anyone under 18 will be denied and the baby will be placed for adoption with a married / committed couple. Anyone 18-21 must either be married or be able to show that they have a support system.
I know, I know. I'm insane. But as an adopted person I thank god almost every day that my birth mother has the good sense and unselfishness needed to give me a better life. I firmly believe that the breakdown of the family is the cause of so much of our problems and maybe if we could get 15 years of children actually being raised by families and not by other kids that some problems would fix themselves.
*** by FAMILY I don't actually mean blood relatives, I mean FRAMILY (FRiends plus faMILY) - people who support you emotionally and physically and even financially if needed.
Ha! Welcome to the Monkeyhouse! Parenting classes would be a good idea. I know some people that weren't all that happy with their adoptive parents, so handing kids over to strangers like that might not work out too good.

Got a real nice, cheap metal stool there to put the computer on. I love to go there and look at the names they dream up for their wares: Fnort, Blit, Dweeb, Graunch, Fwip, etc. A couple more IKEA stores would improve America a little.

hobiejoe wrote: Err, except for all that horrible partition business in '47, the creation of an Iraq made up of at least three seperate ethnic nations and goodness what else besides. But then again, given how we acquired our empire unravelling it was never going to be easy. The Commonwealth is largely a good thing though, and actually standing up to a couple of members at the moment - Sri Lanka over the treatment of Tamils, and Canada over the exploitation of tar sands and its climate commitments.
Compared to the way other empires have gone, on balance y'all did fine. And are doing fine.
