Desire and Blood on the Tracks are my two favourites.    Did most of my listening in the Single Mens' bunkhouse at the Fording Coal mine in SE BC while saving money to hitch to Tierra del Fuego.

Thank the Gods for bunkmates with good tastes in music and vinyl players.

Bob Dylan paints Shanghai red

The troubador’s painted output is more upbeat than his musical portfolio, but its focus on iconic Americana is classic Dylan.

There
are artists and there are artists – and Bob Dylan is both: The
world-famed guitar strummer is an almost equally mean hand with pencil
and paintbrush.

It is Dylan’s visual, rather than aural, oeuvre that is on display in
Shanghai in a high-profile, multi-media exhibition that flung open its
doors today, that runs through till January 5.

“Retrospectum Bob Dylan” is housed in the Modern Art Musuem,
Shanghai, a Tate Modern-style converted coal bunker on the bank of the
Whampoa River in the city’s Pudong district. It features over 250 works
loaned from private collections around the world and from Dylan himself.

The exhibition doubles as a coming-of-age party for the gallery
itself — a new jewel in Shanghai’s cultural crown, which has been in
“soft opening” mode since 2017.

He saw an animal climb an oak so black
It was a really odd thing to see
Needles shooting out of his round back
"Ah, think I'll call it a porcupine tree"

Desire's my favorite too. But I got it around the time it was first released, addicted to it in my young teens. My Dylan purchases went something like this: Blood on the Tracks, Desire, Hard Rain, Street Legal, Before the Flood, Greatest Hits 2, Live at Budokan... then in college, I started buying his back catalogue, one record every week or two, starting with Bob Dylan and working my way chronologically back to the early 70s.

I especially love the looseness of Desire, the drums and the ethnic flavorings.

Curious thing about Dylan is that in interviews he seems to actually get more coherent as he gets older.  I am thinking that in his earlier days he would be channeling and mimicking his mentor Woody and the incoherent speech and strange mannerism of his youth was his public persona.  As he got older he dropped all that and just talks like a normal person now.  Now as for the singing, he went the other way!{#Lol}

How are the recent shows (will have to you tube)?  Last time i saw him was about 10 y.a. at Nassau Coliseum...not a particularly good show.  Time before that, 2-4 years prior, in some field out in Southampton, with Larry Campbell was an amazing experience.  Incredibly energy. Prior to that, mid 90s at the Hollywood Bowl, was a total rocker.  Great show.  First time, mid 80s, in Saratoga...sleeper.

You pays your money you takes your chances. I hated the show in the 80s with Tom Petty! Saw him in a small room and he was talkative and working the crowd, amazing. Saw a bigger show about 8 years ago with John Cougar that went longer than I expected and was really nice. Not transcendental, but worth every penny.
