Oh come on dude- you profess to be a kayaker and you are saying that is your time? You're just trying to lure someone into embarassing themselves.  I'm still getting over ligaments I tore in my back 3 years ago and I could beat that. There is no way you can kayak and run that slow. No way.

Hmm... I remember outrunning the boys in highschool— but that was just phys ed class and didn't really count.
Maybe about 6:30- 6:45 when I was in awesome shape and runing X-country (15 years ago).
About 9 minutes typical mile now. Maybe 8:00 if I want to kill myself? But really, I do about 2-3 miles on the treadmill now, at about ~9 minute miles. Treadmill is easier than "real" running, though.
I could probably do ONE 7:30- 8:00 minute mile but I'd be recovering for a good quarter hour afterwards ;-) But I'm old. And I don't run regularly.
EDIT: oh yeah— and this is coming from someone with multiple herniated discs and arthritis in my back.
Running is weird. It's so hard for the first 2 weeks, then it gets a lot easier. Give yourself 6 weeks and you'll be amazed how much you improve.
