So anyway, I'd like to thank alcohol, and alcohol alone for allowing me to deal with all this. You all did nothing. KIDDING! We aren't the most communicative family, but I know how much you all cared. I sensed you all felt some of the weight that we did, and knowing we weren't alone made it easier to bare. Thank you.

I think there is something psychological/metaphysical about having a really nice new one, too—-it's like telling the Universe, "I have plenty." And hopefully the Universe sees how sure I am and delivers a really lucrative job. I'm counting on it. Belief is a powerful, powerful thing. I'm adjusting all my internal thoughts to stay tuned into what I want to see happen in the next couple of months—-and to throw out all negative ones. Even the ones from the news, about the economy.

Alexandra wrote:Yes, brand new. I'm at a time in my life where I really would just like it to start out mine—-even though pre-owned is more economical, etc. My big brother totally backed me up on this—he doesn't ever trust who's "problem" he's getting (or if they drove it hard, etc..) no matter how good it looks, or even if it's certified. I just want something solid for my new chapter of life. I think over the long term, if you purchase a reliable brand new car at a reasonable price, and hang onto it for 15-20 years or more, it can be nearly as economical as going through a series of used vehicles of varying provenance. Think Honda Civic/Accord, Toyota Camry, Etc. The up front investment is greater, but you will have fewer visits to the repair shop/parts counter, perhaps better gas mileage, too. And the smile on your face from tooling around in a new car will increase your earning power, it's a known fact!!
