Absolutely absurd to blame any single individual for this, especially a President. Congress is in charge of Interstate Commerce and Industry regulations. Just take a wild guess at which party is thoroughly against any further regulations?

You have a point, haresfur, about people having unrealistic expectations of immediate and full transparency. But there's a happy medium between instant information and 68 days of silence.
My guess is that the Biden admin hoped this issue would never hit the news.
That may be, and it may be that they simply wanted to wind up the pressure to investigate trump before this got out. Have to say, I'm sort of ok with that since trump's actions are orders of magnitude worse.
But I think they are smart enough to know that this would get out. And my theory for most things is to get the bad news out as soon as possible. I've been involved with some relatively high-profile environmental things and when shit hit the fan, everyone ran around for a while then it became part of business as usual. Waiting is almost never beneficial.
