I know how you dislike facts...but maybe you got the wrong guy?

The guy who is going to share his taxes as soon as his audit is finished, and is now being indicted as a tax cheat:
President Trump’s first budget blueprint calls for a $239 million cut to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) despite Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s previous requests to hire more IRS staff and modernize its technology.

The Guy who has shared his tax returns, President Biden in his first budget is:

proposing to double the size of the IRS, by hiring nearly 87,000 new workers over the next decade, as part of a sweeping plan to chase down tax cheats. The hiring spree, part of a bid to increase IRS funding by $80 billion, would be phased in to give the department time to adjust, the Treasury Department said in a report Thursday.

WTF is right...but you got the wrong President.

Did you file electronically and direct deposit the check?  I got my money in under two weeks.

Biden wants infrastructure. Does America know how to do it anymore?

“Let’s get this straight: How would it be if the United States were viewed by the rest of the world as interfering with the elections directly of other countries and everybody knew it,” Biden asked. “What would it be like if we engaged in activities that he engaged in? It diminishes the standing of a country that is desperately trying to make sure it maintains its standing as a major world power.”
“Giving Putin a meeting is just the latest win that Joe Biden has handed Russia,” Republican National Committee communications director Danielle Alvarez said in a statement.

Alvarez was also critical of the Biden administration’s decision last month to withhold sanctions against the company and the chief executive behind Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Critics of the pipeline, which would transport natural gas from Russia to Germany, view its imminent completion and operation as a major geopolitical coup for the Kremlin.

“Biden’s foreign policy failures have strengthened Russia at the expense of our country,” Alvarez said. “The American people deserve a leader who prioritizes our interests and holds bad actors accountable.”

The RNC did not offer a similar critique of President Donald Trump’s 2018 summit with Putin in Helsinki at which Trump famously refused to criticize Putin for what U.S. intelligence agencies had said was a concerted effort by Russians to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.

Kurt....If you're not sure, we could ask the richest man on the planet. He lost money for 20 years.

What you're getting at is the current President's attention span not being measured in likes.  The last guy couldn't plan beyond his next happy meal.

Well, I see little conflict between enlightened nationalism and shared global interests.

Is it nationalism that drives the US War on Terror, a rhetorical device used to dehumanize, demonize and kill?    I do not believe so.

Were the Sept. 11th attacks in the 'national interest'?  Or was it a good pretext to start slaughtering innocent civilians in several theatres because all Americans derive intrinsic joy from killing the innocent?

Is it really the 'national' interest of the USA to support Israeli nuclear weapons-backed ethnic-cleansing terrorism?   Especially in light of the horrifically bad health outcomes of over half the American population?    In the event of a regional nuclear war, Americans will die like folks in poor, developing countries.

Nationalism does not mean that ordinary dumb Americans have to do what anti-Semitic Americans want them to do.  If Americans agree to sacrifice the lives of their fellow citizens so Israel can annex most of the West Bank, well, is that rational 'national interest' calculation or are powerful special interests appealing to the murderous, racist, uninformed, ignorant side of Americans?

Is it in the national interests of ALL Americans to give the Baltic states NATO membership?   Why?  So US weapon system manufacturers and the heavily subsidized US agricultural sector can increase exports?  So NATO troops can strike up relations with local prostitutes?

Does the eastern part of the Ukraine really matter to Americans or are all Americans "speak white" racists?    Was imposing billions of dollars of losses on Exxon Mobil in the national interest thanks to ineffective but self-loathing economic sanctions?

Is it in the national interest to re-ignite the Cold War with Russia?  Or China for that matter?

Is it in the national interest to have 9% of the population not covered by health insurance?   Explain the national health, economic and security benefits of that situation.

Ah, the School of One Size Fits All !

Except that it doesn't.  To think that it does and to force that upon everyone is narrow minded and just plain wrong.

Incidentally, Lazy8, you asked a while back for a reference, and then I lost sight of that thread.   I guess my foreign policy politics is closest to those of the 'realists', i.e., the use of rational cost-benefit analysis in the realm of international relations and strategic studies.

A favourite read is Stephan M. Walt at Harvard who publishes often in Foreign Policy.   My strategic studies prof at Universite Laval — Albert Legault — was also a realist, or if you prefer identified with the school of 'realism'.
