But don't worry...the government is going to shut down while Republicans focus on the important things... like reading between the lines of Hunter's emails.
Absolutely, nothing more important to the nation than Hunter's doings. I for one can't sleep at night
Kurt...in case you missed it... the first hearings happened yesterday... It's hard to find anything on Right-wing media, so here's a quick summary:
The Republican-selected witnesses all stated, "I haven't seen any evidence that would support impeachment".
But don't worry...the government is going to shut down while Republicans focus on the important things... like reading between the lines of Hunter's emails.
My sister was an accountant on movie sets, and she only once worked non-union and said they provided one porta potty for the entire crew. Never again. Union rules seem (and frequently are) petty, but they also protect employment and wages against a behemoth business thatâs only concerned with profit (because thatâs capitalism: what strategy results in the most profit?)
I had an astute adjunct who worked as an auto exec for decades comment, you get the unions you deserve.
I have found most private unions can be effective counterparties to an employer. On the other hand, public unions often are dysfunctional.
I was a union guy too. Painters for 20 years.
All they cared about is if we were wearing whites.
I do get my pension now. It almost pays for the groceries.
I didn't care for the union much.

I do not believe that President Biden should be walking the picket line with UAW members.
Yeah, that bothered me. I should think that he is above that stuff, like how the Queen stayed out of things.
OTOH, Trump was clearly âscrew the workersâ so I can see how being on their side - for the sake of votes - is a slam dunk.
Congratulations, you have just outed yourself as a racist for even thinking of replacing Harris with Newsome, in the eyes of the party you have laid down with...
The only name that could possibly get a Dem nomination at this point is Gavin Newsom. He says he's not running but keeps doing things to keep him in the news. He has become an incredibly good politician and would run circles around anyone running on either side right now.
The first state filing deadline for the primary ballot is mid-October I think. From there...it gets harder and harder to get votes.
If I were Joe, I'd find a way to dump Kamala and pull him onto the ticket. He could help eliminate the "old man Joe" noise.

The party that puts everything into what you are (identity politics), dismissing who you are. Merit no longer matters. You want to take a black woman, the current VP off the ticket and replace her with a white man ? You just can't do that.*
*(Edit: We have reached the point where the water in the pot is boiling and the frog can no longer get out in order to save itself. Thank you, Hillary. She did warn us, if anyone remembers ... )
And besides, you want to turn this country into San Francisco ? Remember that before Newsome was governor of California, he was Mayor of SF and is responsible for what that once beautiful city has become and is turning the whole state into.
Oh and in case most of you missed it, Newsome has agreed to a debate with DeSantis that will be hosted by Hannity at or around Nov 30, IIRC. You'll have to watch Fox to see it, live anyway.

All of that said...I wouldn't put a nickel on anything but a rematch of 2020... and that's just tragic.
I invite others here to come up with serious alternatives to Biden. It won't matter at this point because the race is already largely down to two guys but what the hey. I suspect a lot of names offered may find interest/support in the way that people really like their football team's backup QB: he's a nice idea in theory

At this point in time? So close to November '24? No.
I takes YEARS to build a presidential campaign. Long before candidates make themselves known to the public, they are wooing Big Money donors and political powers. Occasionally you'll get someone like Trump or Obama who appears to rise up due to a grassroots groundswell, but even the dark horses needed backing from big players to break through.
I've read a lot of carping about Biden. Apparently everyone has forgotten that the public experiences an emotional fatigue with the sitting President about this time during his first term. It happened to Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. It happened less so with GW Bush because of 9/11 and the early belief that the invasion of Iraq was justified. GHW Bush had a 90% approval rating at the end of the Gulf War in March '91 but lost the election to Clinton because he had no domestic agenda to shake voters out of their emotional fatigue with him.
Trump may have escaped that fatigue because he was so polarizing. His supporters felt (and feel, I suspect) that an attack on Trump is an attack on them and they're not willing to disengage from him.

Well said, but we all shouldn't forget that Trump completely botched the handling of Covid and contributed to the needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans. Trump also pushed crackpot "cures" like Ivermectin; quite a few of his fans took the drug and went to the hospital because of it. Trump's ignorance about Covid, pandemics and preventive measures was so great that he himself got Covid and very nearly died of it.
As for illegal immigrants and illegal drugs, these were problems during Trump's term as well. It's doubtful that Trump or his federal government would have a better handle on them at this time.
Finally: Trump is very likely going to go to jail over the withheld government documents. Sure, we could debate all day about January 6 and whether Trump was merely exercising his First Amendment rights, but the documents case is pretty slam dunk. He had no reason or right to hold onto those documents once he left office. He was asked politely and repeatedly for the return of them. Had he done so, he would not have gotten into trouble.
Instead, he lied about having returned all the documents and tried to hide a number of them. He made no real effort to secure them properly. He has repeatedly tried to tamper with witnesses about the documents. He tried to suborn his lawyer to commit perjury about the matter.
The whole documents story and the legal case surrounding it demonstrate quite clearly that Trump has a remarkably poor ability to assess risk and the consequences of blatantly violating federal law, even when he's received explicit advice on how to avoid those legal consequences.
Let's stop pretending that Joe Biden is senile. You should be far more worried about Trump, Kurt. All the indictments he's facing are because of his own stupidity and poor judgment. The documents case is just the easiest for you to understand.
So, let me see... you prefer a candidate who, among all his troubling indictments, sh*ts on the Constitution and will literally stop at nothing to illegally remain in power? I would unequivocally say it is you who is batsh*t crazy and really hates this country.
Your insecurities are amplified in the form of Trump whose own insecurities made him a dismal failure as president. You're impressed by an incorrigible bully who lives for never-ending confrontation and has absolutely no redeeming qualities as a leader (or a man for that matter).

A new single day record illegal border crossings was set last week. 11,000.
It is a well known fact that the cartels that control our southern border get $10,000 per person to cross the border.
11,000 X $10,000 = $110,000,000 in a single day.
For perspective, about $3 Billion per month or $36 Billion per year, charging admission to our country.
And all the fentanyl that kills 100,000 Americans per year.
Mayor Adams of NYC is whining about 100,000 illegals and the $12 Billion they are going to cost the city. ?
Biden has let in almost 6 million since his inauguration and Adams is complaining about the burden of only 100,000 ?
He and other democrats have made their cities and states Sanctuaries. Now they are all bitching when people take them up on their offer and show up.
Haven't all you open border people been saying that they will contribute to this country and not cost us anything ?
And Joe, worthless, sleepy, crooked Joe, doing nothing other than putting Kamala in charge of the border and now making Kamala the GUN CZAR to stop gun violence in this country.
And Joe is blaming all of this on Trump and you all believe Joe.
And still y'all have no buyer's remorse and are still wanting to give this guy another 4 years just to keep a republican, any republican, out of the WH.
You people are nucking futz and must truly hate this country.
