It's sort of a moot point though, with proper setup and doing simple things like turning off the 4G radio when out of service areas, you can easily get a full day plus out of the battery w/ normal usage.
Froyo is short for Frozen Yogurt - the latest Android release. They are all named after deserts - cupcake, donut, eclair... hey, alphabetical too... I predict "gumdrop" to be next.
Are you in one of the 4G areas? I'm hesitant about the $10 surcharge whether you get 4G or not. They are telling me its better 3G and totally worth it. What have you experienced? The Pre's battery cover totally sucks to remove, too. Every time (which is rare) that I do have to remove it, it takes about 10 minutes and a few choice words to do so. I only take mine out when it needs a hard restart. I carry a mobile charger in my vehicle and try to be aware of my usage and most of the time do okay. The Pre is a battery sucker sometimes, too, and I have to be more aware than I did with older, more basic phones. I'm totally holding out for Swedish Fish.

And what's Froyo? The last time I heard that term it was in reference to a frozen dessert.

Yep. As of Wednesday for certain models (only EVO and droid X as far as I know). It's cool, but it's just incremental. It fixes some annoyances (bluetooth voice command w/o stupid hacks!), and smooths over some rough edges, but it's not that different.

Been looking at making the switch and it seems not all Android models available in the US are available here, so have yet to sort that out. Definitely having a close look at the HTC products. More real 4Gs is in the pipeline,I'm waiting for this falls newbies.

I'm allergic to proprietary anything, like Blackberry and iPhonez.
Seeing as how Google themselves went full reverse on selling their own branded hardware...
The HTC Incredible (on Verizon in the US) is a very decent device. I sprang for a higher-capacity battery (from a third party vendor) which edges the battery life over into the acceptable range.

It's an operating system for android devices. Supposed to be the shizzle.

I'm liking the HTC EVO... but I think I'm holding out for the Samsung Epic - comparable but with a slide out keyboard. A lot depends on how much longer my Pre - which is on life support - can hold out. The Epic won't be out until the end of the month.

I'm in serious love with my new Droid X from Verizon . . . 32GB memory, excellent HD video camera, apps galore.

The first Android (1) (2) phone is about to hit the market pretty soon (sometime in October) — HTC Dream. From the specs released by the FCC, it's supposed to have smaller dimensions than the iPhone, and that includes a large touch-screen like the iPhone and also a keypad (don't think it's qwerty, tho)! Of course it will be buggy when it first comes out, but this is just the begining. As sleek and cool-looking as the iPhone is, I am definitely more excited about the alternatives. And I'm almost sure that it'll be much easier to buy unlocked versions of these phones. w00t!
