Pat Boone called me the other day.  I didn't listen long enough to hear why, but suspect he was plugging Scott Brown for the MA US Senate seat.

I kinda agree.  After Journeyman, everything was crap.  Now, don't get me wrong - Tears in Heaven was a great song and fitting at the time and he probably NEEDED to write it.  BUT, to subject us to 18 years of that drivel?  Oy!

And don't get me started on the acoustic defecation that is "Layla".  I don't think any song has made me want to retire from music more.  Again, cool at the time, but the "jocks" on FM really need to rediscover that little Derek and the Dominoes album.  (And I use "jocks" in quotes since, short of Bill, I don't think any broadcast station relies on earcrafted playlists anymore.

No contest, although I have been enjoying some of Eric's vocals on Fresh Cream and Disraeli Gears of late.

I am sorry that RP doesn't play anything from Jack's Songs For a Tailor album, which I still really like after all of these years.

Undoubtedly great guitarist (although several notches below Jimmy of course).....but never had a great blues voice for me.
In Cream, Jack Bruce was the vocalist for me!

Eric Clapton To Appear In Ads For T-Mobile Phone

The Limited Edition Fender phone is meant to evoke the sunburst finish of a classic Fender guitar. The new android phone will ship preloaded with a number of Clapton's best known songs, including "Layla," "My Father's Eyes," "Rock 'N' Roll Heart" and "Wonderful Tonight."

My brother and I agree that "Layla and Other Love Stories" is one of the greatest rock albums ever made... too bad he peaked so soon.

{#Yes}  I agree, at least in principle.  It's a stone cold fact that some of the most brilliant music ever written came from composers who were at the worst part of their addictions.  And very few of those people manage to create works while sober that come close to equaling their masterpieces.  I don't see that as a valid reason for any of these talented people to start taking drugs again, but I do accept it as a fact.

As for "the Devil's music", that hasn't been news since the 1950s. {#Rolleyes}

I agree (on his current live musical personality, not the heroin), with the exception of the MSG shows last winter with Steve Winwood...the old boy came out if only for those few nights.

Kind of saw Clapton differently after i'd found out about his support of the rather racist and controversial MP Enoch Powell,  support he reiterated in the last few years.
