Hi, HC! The long run will be great. It's just the initial easing into it that's scary. This whole job application thing is nuts. I hope you're well, too.
That's always the frustrating part, but now that you've got a "test run" interview under your belt, you'll get in the groove and will have a line of employers wanting your exceptional talents!

I like those odds! And tell Appy I made some apricot jam a couple of weeks ago, flavored with some apricot brandy, using apricots from the Grand Junction, CO, area. They were very yummy, as were the cherries. Best I've ever had. In fact, the cherries didn't last long enough for jam, but some of them ended up in a frozen custard Kevin made.

Yeah, Taos area is pretty damn cool and has a special place in our hearts as we both worked at Philmont (in Cimarron) at one time. Northern NM is colder than southeast Alaska in the winter, though, by many degrees— it averages around the 30's in the winter in SE Alaska, and around 10 in Taos. Though you're right about the dark part.
But it is a DRY cold. Better dry snow and 10 than soaking rain in the 30's. And does AK have pinyons? Low riders? Luminarias? Kit Carson's house (or is that Santa Fe?)? Nooooo.

I just got back from AK. Too cold and dark in the winter. Taos is much better from a light and heat perspective and the snow is drier for skiing. The food is better (sans Salmon), than anywhere else. The triculture-ness cannot be beat. Did I mention the Chimayo Weavers Guild? And let's not forget about the chile. There...glad that is settled.

You know there's an 80% chance we're moving to WY or MT?... That's just the way (statistically) this might be working out. If we end up in Wyoming, we will strive to be as cool as the current residents. Though I will tell you right now that I won't be making pie or canned goods. Appy is the cook in the family.
