We don't have that sort of problem, thank goodness. This house is in a family, the parents were still living there when I bought my house over 20 years ago; they have both since passed away. The four children are all around my age and none of them want to live in the house (three live locally). They tried to sell it, halfheartedly, then it was vacant, and then rented it to one of the son's daughters and her kids. After they moved out this family moved in a couple years ago. I've never really met them; don't know their names. Mother with a son and a daughter and the daughter's two small children (one a baby in arms). I've seen and heard "normal" arguments and once saw one that concerned me, but I was assured at the time that everything was "okay." Yesterday was not okay by any stretch. Screaming, throwing things through an open door. The mother standing on the sidewalk, distraught, on the phone with the police. Two town cops and three county sheriffs. The young woman taken away in handcuffs. A very large knife taken and bagged for evidence. I did not see anyone with any injuries, though. Very scary.

And I must add that I feel deeply, profoundly sorry for those two little children. Innocent victims. One reason I did not call the landlord, who, being the dippsh*t he is, would probably evict them.

Our neighborhood, and the entire Coachella Valley, has become the new STR (short term rental) capital of the world.
People are buying homes they really can't afford. Rent them out over weekends, concert times, tennis tournaments or just vacation rentals. And they make killer bucks for a short time of rental.
There's a huge backlash around from local homeowners in the whole valley that don't like the idea of these homeowners, mostly from out of town, turning our neighborhoods into a hotel business.
I've seen some bad issues in our own neighborhood.
Heck. We've had Elon Musk stay a few doors down from us. And Of Monsters and Men perform in the same house backyard during the Coachella a few years back.
Our local city has started to crackdown on the out of controlness off this situation. Because of that... things have improved somewhat.

I've been a "taper" for over 48 years now. Longer... if you consider the first time I picked up a Ames "Nail Spotter" to use... I was in the 4th grade (1964).
I'm still trying to figure it out.

Brief nap, and rehydration. Maybe do a little laundry. Once it cools down out there maybe take another walk, or a dip in the Pacific. Trying to enjoy each of these days. Will have to go home soon, and don’t want to have regrets about forgetting to have done something.
(Tomorrow, up early to snorkel Hanauma Bay) And maybe try to sneak down to the place where Obama stayed here after he left the White House; it’s about 3+ miles from here.

4x12x5/8 is monstrous lol

"Orange peel" texture came about because the painters started to spray their paint instead of rolling. Rolling left a stipple effect on the finished drywall. When they quit rolling... you could see the difference from the joint compound and the face paper on the sheetrock. Especially with recycled paper on sheetrock. It has tiny hash marks all over it.
So spraying texture replaced the painters initial job.
I do a lot of "smooth wall" work. You have to "putty coat" 100% of the rock to make it right. Most people don't want to pay the price difference.
I also do a lot of acoustic (popcorn) removals. I've got those down to a science.
My hangers love 5/8". They like the way it snaps clean just scoring one side. They're nuts. And they have no necks.

I didn't "hang" the rock. I can do "hanging". When it gets to the point of ceilings/ 4'x 12'x  5'8"/ over 10 sheets... I have hangers who are the best. They don't like to finish... I do.
I just past the point of finishing drywall for 47 years now. Probably more. I joined the Painters Union in March of '73 to be official. The first time I picked up a drywall tool was in '64. My dad was a finisher back in the day.
I have the tools to crank production out. The owner was bragging about a "mudder' he knew who was so fast. His guy did everything by hand. He couldn't believe what I got done in the 1.5  hours it took me to tape his garage. Of course, it took me the rest of the day to get it finished off. But his hand job guy would have taken a week and a half to do it.
