{#Wave} It wasn't as awesome as I was hoping for considering the label.  But the Naxos sampler has more than made up for it.  I would never have classified myself as a fan.  I mean, once a year, a live performance in a suitably stained glass church is fine.  But I would never have guessed that I would listen to it at home.  On purpose.  I am on my third listen.

The Daptone sampler is great.  I got a kick out of some of the stuff.  Of course, it is very genre specific.  Not really for the casual fan.  I think you will dig.

Different (for me) versions of the Satie and of the Handel are particularly welcome. Nice!

Naxos has a great reputation over here - they started about 15-20 years ago, IIRC, and often used orchestras and musicians from Eastern Europe to produce extremely good recordings at excellent prices.

My musical edjumacation has benefited enormously. Here's to Naxos

This is what we are going to do that will make each and every one of us rich and famous. Actually, I'll settle for a little extra change and skip the part where everybody knows my name. Anyway, the point is, what a cool job! How do we sign up?

It seems that people with too much money and not enough time are paying other people to pick out music for them. To be played in specific areas. Sometimes for specific activities. Music that matches their space and decor. I know, crazy, huh? But I can see how it started. First, stores like Pottery Barn offer a particular look or atmosphere. Then they start selling CDs that promote their specific lifestyle marketing. And now people want their own unique soundtrack. What do you think the chances are of finding clients in Fort Worth? Someone come up with a business plan. We already have the expertise. And a widespread network.

That IS crazy! And lazy. Perhaps for tone deaf folks. I like to set the mood until requests come in. But it could help if you're "selling" something. Hmm {#Think} ...Edieraye is pitching Victoria's Secret and Bolero is playing the background. {#Think}

I know, I know, I've linked to this before but it is worth a repost:

Powell's Review-a-Day

Personally, I signed up for the email version.  Means I always have at least one thing I actually want to read waiting for me in my inbox.  I've lost count of how many books I've read based on these reviews.  And if you don't have a good local bookstore - consider buying from Powell's.
