Yeah I realise it doesn't use vermouth. It's not surprising that Amero vary so much when they mostly started as family recipes and whatever was available to throw in. 

I do like Averna, though so maybe I'll try next time I grab a bottle.

That sounds really good! Most things like this seem to lean way too heavily on the anise. I have a cabinet full of anise-flavored nonsense. Absinthe, ouzo, Pernod, probably more.

This one is made from maraschino cherries, and I designed the bottle. Not single handedly, but I did all the "hands on" work. I still haven't tried the product but knowing the owner of the company I'm sure it's good.

I just used "regular" sweet vermouth, bourbon and black walnut bitters.

 Don't think I've tried that one. I usually keep quiet around cocktail geeks but I'm not a big Manhattan fan. Mainly because I'm not a big vermouth fan
