Might be that adding the water was the mistake. Maybe I'l give it another try with a smaller volume.

Oh, cool! Thanks! When I first got mine (thanks BHD) I dreamed of fizzing some of my homemade limoncello!

Well, you’re only supposed to fizz plain water! And then add flavors etc after fizzing. I use a bunch of different SodaStream syrups and flavor drops, and bitters. Yummy.

That's interesting that you can make tonic with that. Sugarless?

I normally put Campari in my G&T to give it a boost, but this stuff with the angostura bark does something good. I made some tonic syrup a few years ago, still have some cinchona bark so I should make more, but I made a double batch before and it went moldy really fast so that was disappointing. But you can make it super strong then...

SodaStream has a whole line of syrups, sugar free too. I make ginger ale and tonic all the time. They’ve also got some sugar free flavor drops (fruit flavors) that are nice.

There's a grocery store here, what do you call them, they sell past-date food and day old bread etc. We learned slowly that breakfast cereal is going to be chewy after blowing past its sellby date but some things are going to be good as new. Case in point: Cocktail mixers and ... Tonic water. For some reason, they always have some of the expensive Q or Fever Tree tonics and I always buy it. They have a lot of varieties, Q does "Indian" or regular and I can't tell much difference if I add gin but just as a soda pop (yeah I'm crazy) the Indian is sweeter. This one though is best so far: Fever Tree Aromatic... sweet but bitter too, with angostura bark (not the bitters but it's bitter). I paid $1.50 for a 4-pack, you'll pay $6 or $7 but honestly, you'll like it. Skip the lime.

Know a person in the Midwest US who rents a bike locker in Miami so he doesn't have to fly his bike down for his annual winter ride out to Key West. Sounds very cool, but I think I'd drive.

Rent a kayak too, maybe.
