Some of my best photos were taken while driving....cautiously.....and I'm not gonna apologize for 'em, either.
 
See that one on the left—it looks like a fire rainbow—-I still say they are the "side effect" of a sundog.

Check this out. I was poking around looking for sunset photos and I decided to go into this folder of images I shot while driving to and from Colorado in February '08 to pick up the Casita travel trailer. I was by myself, and I had the camera sitting beside me on the seat so I could pick it up and point it without looking and fire off a shot. Most of them didn't turn out because I made a point of keeping the driving bit the priority. 

Anyway............................I hadn't really noticed what I had captured in this shot until today.

I think it's common to call the halo a sundog, whether or not the mock suns are present. But it may not really be a sundog until you get the two bright lights in addition to the halo. I guess it really doesn't matter.....
