If you leave us for later
Break off from everyday
Spend a week in the moment
Take the train to Marrakesh

Just when you would change your focus
We get our own ideas
Go cut down some things you wouldn't
Hope you don't end up alone

Everything you think are we are
We're come to mesmerize
Everything you fear we are we will be

The time is gonna come
The time is gonna come

We got our own ideas

After hearing 3 or 4 of the tracks on RP, I'm also thinking about getting it.  What's your overall review after a few all-the-way-through listens?

Must buy IMHO - one of their top 2 albums.
I usually like these guys more. This pretty weak. Only a 5
"what we need right now is an enormous amount of pink....
But in the absence of pink, here's some blues for ya"
.
Deep Purple - In The Absence Of Pink - Knebworth 85

Paul is dead!
I liked these guys form the moment I heard them here, and keep liking them more. And now, playing this really loud I like it even better.
Anybody know what they are singing in the vocal track playing backwards?

Really Spoon - how long did it take you to come up with these?

Or is it just me?

Not just you. Everybody can reflect on the ambiguity. I, for one, remain unoffended by word play.

Cos it's great, that's why.
Reminded of a line from The Airplane’s Volunteers:
We are forces of chaos and anarchy Everything you say we are, we are.
And we’re very proud of ourselves
A flashback, I suppose
Nothing against Spoon, but I do not ever want to hear this song again.

That marimba in the background sounds quite a bit like the Skype incoming call ringtone, caught me out

Definitely hearing the backwards vocal.  Wondering about it being the same phrase.
But I can't be certain.     Anybody know?
Do I hear "battery high" in the background, or is my bluetooth speaker freaking out?

Or am i?

This has nothing to do with this song but with the comment Bill just made about the Camp Fire and Paradise CA. I am so proud of all of the RP listener that have donated. Just go to the link and see how many have noted that their donations are a result of Radio Paradise. It warms my heart to be a part of this caring family.

What happened to the guy's edgy voice?
Regarding the volume control, I can't get it to slide but if I left click on the slide bar the cursor jumps to the arrow position.
With the new HTML interface, I can't move the volume control anymore.

Anyone else seeing this too?!

I sure do like Pink Up.  It sounds like Depeche Mode at the beginning.
I thought I liked Spoon. Rock band, right?  This drivel is driving me crazy.
I replaced the tubes in my radio several times trying to get this song to stop skipping...  I like it anyway!

You must really enjoy listening to music you don't enjoy listening to.

I considered getting tix, but when I've seen Spoon in the past, they were usually pretty meh.  And their ACL performance in 2007 was surprisingly terrible.  But now I'm sad I didn't go!

You saw Spoon and they were meh? Wow. They were fantastic when I saw them in Nashville last week. They're one of the best live bands on the planet.

Just saw them two nights ago at 9:30 Club. They put on a rockem sockem show, most enjoyable!! The busted this out during the encore, it was awesome.

Perfect, after Radiohead's Decks Dark! And this is very much in the same vein, as far as riding harmonics — and great harmony — go.

CJ, I never made the connection but now you have said it I hear it!

Just Saw these guys at Red Rocks last night.  Perfect cool temps, big ass round moon floating above the stage and these guys captured the vibe and delivered the goods.  Everybody was pumped. Very cool band at one of the most unique venues on the planet.  Big Fun.  I is now a Spoonage fan!

The music is really cool. Why not just listen?

Edit: In any case, Prince was one of Spoon's inspirations on this album, the "Dirty Mind" album in particular. Hence, the "Hot Thoughts" tune and album title.

Just saw them live at Forecastle, sounded great! Much better songs on that album, in fact this is one of the worst, Bill needs to get Can I Sit Next to You and I Ain't the One in circulation. First Caress is also good.

I am really enjoying this new album, but my query is with the production values.  Every track sounds crusty, with distortion everywhere.  It just makes my car system (which is where I enjoy most of my music these days) sound like the speakers are duff.  Nothing clean about it, which spoils my enjoyment.  Clean it up and it would be my new favourite album.
This is new music?!?!  Approve!
