Lost in the dream
Or just the silence of a moment
It's always hard to tell
Down in the way
They cut it open and they sold it
It's always hard to tell

I saw a soldier man
He locked his eyes like they were red
Ooh but it's hard they can't resist
You may risk it all
You'd risk it all for the memory
But it's living under your skin
Love's the key to the things that we see
And don't mind chasing
Leave the light on in the yard for me

When we were the same
We stroked our arms and we wore them thin
Ah the sadness it was in
You don't miss it man
You got it all like a memory
Now it's living under your skin
Love's the key to the games that we play
But don't mind losing
Love's the key to the things that we see
But you don't mind moving
It's a door...
It's the key to the dark...
Love's a game; it's always the same
Oh, all the way

That's so clever, you should be saving your best work for John Oliver or Jimmy Kimmel.
Oooof, the Bore On Drugs really pushing the limits on this one.
I like these guys.
Can't help myself - Bob Dylan meets the Waterboys?
Yep.
I really dig this band.
Love this tune, makes me think of loved ones lost, and all the loved ones still here.
5 years old and this already makes me feel nostalgic. Thanks Bill, and thanks The War on Drugs.

Thanks, Bill & Rebecca, for once again turning me on to an excellent group, for the millionth time in the 10+ years I've been here.

 {#Cheers}

I just can't get tired of hearing this band, no matter how often I hear them.  Sends me to another place.
Back on the frequency but now with an account - lovely song, thanks
4 times in the last 30 days is way TOO MUCH!
My fav from them :-)
This whole album was fantastic. Also enjoyed his new one immensely. Thanks Bill and Rebecca for your always spot-on musical tastes. :)

This is probably my favorite record of the last 5 years.

Bill, You should use your veto more often. Comments should be about enlightening people about the music as some regular posters do, not whining that they don't like it. We don't care.....push the advance button if you don't like it.
Just upped to a 10...  this is beautiful music to sink into

Yes, he doesn't mumble as much, but it is still that Dylan-like, half-spoken , raspy style of singing.

Yup, similar tone to a young B.D
Sounds a bit like the Waterboys.
I'd like to dedicate this song to Cousin Thomas, a beautiful soul who left too soon.  This was one of his favorite songs.
Thanks to Bill, I found the War on Drugs.  I was lucky to be able to get tickets to see them play a few months back (7/22/18) at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee.   What a show - great, smallish, classic venue.  Awesome light show and the band (as always, it seems) was pretty close to perfection.  Can't recommend these guys live enough.

Thanks Bill for turning on to an awesome band !

OMG!

Real RP drama, and I missed it !!

And lol, BillG: how does one answer a fascist's question?

I will say, TWOD found a lifelong fan in me thanks to RP.  I say Long Live RP!

You have to be pretty bad to upset the Magnificent Professor Marvel.

Aaand relaaaax. Such a nice vibe to the songs from this group. Like a comfy jumper. I could do without some of the 'Dylan' but that's nit-picking

Note to self - must be more positive!! {#Laughing}

Just Fantastic.  Perfect album to drink whiskey too!
I only discovered this band recently and have since been listening to this album over and over again. Love it!

This is one of those albums you put on - sit back - beverage perhaps?! - and just let it go all the way through - sublime!

I'm all for free speech, but when one is endlessly and exclusively negative, it just becomes tiresome and annoying.
Farewell calle01; wishing you the endless misery that you seem to love so much.

That I can only post positive feedback or I get terminated?
How democratic?? WTF?

I don't understand why you listen RP if you don't like it, waste of time, no?
Unfortunately I am enjoying this less and less as time goes by.  The contrived vocal affectations are starting to get on my nerves.  ↓

Ah, that explains it!

Absolutely unpleasant vocals plus excruciatingly slow rhythm.

Karma. For being so consistently and aggressively negative.

The next time you hear this song  (and you will, you know you will), remember that you made it happen.

Enjoy!

Why do you listen to RP when 63% of what you rate is a "1?"
Go find some other place to your "liking" instead of dragging the ratings down!

I love this band and this song...  the melodies and dream like meditative vocals.  Love it.
This is just a great effort by this band.  I really enjoy the entire album.
The whole album has a shimmery quality to it.

Its growing on me

Not my favorite, but still quite likeable.  7
What a spectacular find.  The entire album is just a joy!  Thanks.  (It's so gratifying to find a band that doesn't treat a melody like something that should be scraped from the bottom of your shoe.)

Like Bob Dylan!?!!  He is a far better vocalist than Dylan could ever hope to be.

Right, to each his own I guess.

Otherwise:  nice.  I wonder about using a social commentary band name from a marketing perspective but why not.

Obviously wear influences on their sleeves--some 80s Modern English as well--yet the heart and vibe is pure here---this is a gem of a CD, even ambient Eno can be heard, a standout.

hate to quibble, but perhaps more of a 80s/90s Dylan
Great song and great band. May take some time to get into it but worth it.
Like this album a lot but I think the Dylan obsession runs a little too deep for me.  Is trying to sound like your hero a good or bad thing?

That's a good description.  I think this guy's voices is a little more melodic than Zimmerman's.

                          Altogether, a great album{#Sunny} {#Daisy}  {#Sunny}
Thought it was the Waterboys at first listen. This is good.
Have listened to this album and the previous one a few times, and although I find them listenable I'm not really getting them. They are due in my vicinity later in the year so I'm trying to decide whether to see them or not.
sounds like Daniel Ash
best I've heard from these folks......

I am bumping to 10 on the second listen.  Wow.  Very good selection.  I want to stress that my response is not an "emotional" response.  I do not even know what that means.  When you see a beautiful sunrise or landscape is it "emotional"?  Not for me.  It's beauty --- it is like all these chemicals inmy head firing off at the same time and reverberating through my body.  I just orderd CD
Nice band, for a moment I thought it was Bob Dylan
"Is it rolling, Bob?"
oooh,I like this.  this might be the start of a beautiful relationship.  I'm all in.  9 right of the bat.
Beautiful music. Just for Friday evening. Bill, please play "Eyes To The Wind" from the same album on RP.
First time I've heard this/them -
suspect it/they'll grow on me.
