People see me, but they just don't know
What's in my heart, and why I love you so
I love you baby, like a miner loves gold
Come yeah baby, let the good times roll

* Let the good times roll
Oh let the good times roll
Let the good times roll
Come on baby, get down
And let the good times roll
Let the good times roll

Love is nice, when it's understood
It's even nicer, when you're feelin' good
You got me slippin', like a flag on a pole
Come yeah baby, let the good times roll

* Repeat with ad lib

A lot of people live, in make believe
They got a lot of dirt, up their sleeve
I wonder why baby, you treat me so cold
Come yeah baby, let the good times role

* Repeat with ad lib

As a resident Louisianian, I can state that Dr. John is an acquired taste. This is NOT one of his better songs, IMHO. My favorite Dr. John is his solo piano work "Dr. John plays Mac Rebennack". He is pretty damned incredible on piano!
Respendent in lugubriosity and lugubritude. An effective use of negative space. Where are my pants again?

A bit down beat - sounds like it needs revving up a bit - I feel like the 'Jerk' can't quite click my fingers to this!
"clk"->->->"clk"->->->"clk"...etc It's a bayou ting.I'm NOT from dere (I'm norte) but have known an Acadian or 2, coupla Cajuns, a few Canucks, etc etc etc

Requires dictionary...must, move, on.

My favorite thing about this cut is how it delivers objectively upbeat lyrics with such morose singing and lugubrious instrumentation. To me that constitutes an auditory irony. Either it's a funny and wry joke, or it is a depiction of a depressed mood in which one remembers having felt better and is trying to recapture that, but totally in vain.
Whoooow, what you on - heavy thoughts there

Either I am reading a level of sophistication into this number that it doesn't meritor else no one else here sees it. OTOH, it's like poetry to me . . . If I get more out of it than the next person does and the teacher thinks I am reading more into it than it warrants, I am still having a better time intellectually or humorwise than the next guy! Whirled view! I like it!
Please, just to be sure, are the lyrics "let the good times roll"?? I just can't get enough repetitive lyrics

Sorry but this is making me want to puke out my ears.
Can't stand his voice!

Malcolm John Rebennack Jr. has always been in the right place at the right time.
Interesting bit of "why that is" trivia: Dr. John has very nice teeth. Now, I dunno if they're storebought or not, but that *does* handily explain the similarity then to Dr. Teeth (of the Electric Mayhem). Dunnit? = )
'Mick Jagger's brother loved to sing to his patients'
I've always loved the idea of Dr. John, but unfortunately, his music has never done it for me.

Love it! Can't get enough.
Sorry folks.... but I still DON'T like him... not at all....
Not one of Dr John's best songs, a good song nevertheless! - how come my dog don't bark when you come around?.... plz?
Now I'm missing Little Feat, Bill. Help! Outstanding.
missed it!
Great version of the song ... it kind of makes you wish he was playing along with Stevie Ray Vaughan on this one! (Stevie's version really ROCKS!)
OH YEAH!! Let 'em roll, baby...!
