I always said when I'm gone, when I'm dead
Don't lay me down with the dirt on my head
You won't need a shovel, you don't need a cold headstone
You don't need to cry, I'm gon' be going home

I'm waiting for my spaceship to come back to me
It's coming back for me
I don't really care if you believe it's coming back for me, yeah
I been living in a lonesome galaxy
But in my dreams, I see them come and rescue me
Look up in the sky and there they'll be
I bet you'll think of me then
You're gonna say, "Ooh, look at that, oh yeah, yeah"
Damn, if it ain't true
They're coming back for me, they're coming back for me, yeah

I knew from the start I don't belong in these parts
There's too much hate, there's too much hurt for this heart
Lord knows this planet feels like a hopeless place
Thank God I'm going back home to outer space

I'm waiting for my spaceship to come back to me
It's coming back for me
I don't really care if you believe it's coming back for me, yeah
I been living in a lonesome galaxy
But in my dreams, I see them come and rescue me
Look up in the sky and there they'll be
I bet you'll think of me then
You're gonna say, "Ooh, look at that, oh yeah, yeah"
Damn, if it ain't true
They're coming back for me, they're coming back for me, yeah

I'm waiting for my spaceship to come back for me
And I don't really care if you believe me
I been living in a lonesome galaxy
But in my dreams, I see them come and rescue me
Look up in the sky and there they'll be
I bet you'll think of me then
You're gonna say, "Ooh, look at that, oh yeah, yeah"
Damn, if it ain't true
They're coming back for me, they're coming back for me, yeah

"As I leave this earth and sail into the infinite cosmos of the universe, the wars, the triumphs, the beauty, and the bloodshed, the ocean of human endeavor, it all grows quiet, insignificant. I'm nothing more than recycled stardust and borrowed energy, born from a rock, spinning in the ether. I watch my life backwards and forwards and I feel free. Nothing is real, love is everything, and I know nothing."

This song makes me think of the Heaven's Gate cult. I find it hard to get past that. Those crazies thought they were going to be rescued be a spaceship as well.
Like others have posted (including me 5 years ago!) my rating on this one changes a lot.  To hell with it though, I'm going to +1 again, back up to 8, so this will play in 'My Favorites' - and then I can play "Name that tune" with friends/family and give out super bonus points if they come up with "Kesha"

I also LOVE this 'space ship' influenced play list  this kicks off (Spaceship, then Space Oddity, then Space Child) - great work as always, William and crew!

I can't speak for the whole album, but I think "Praying" is a fabulous song. There's a lot of strength and genuine emotion in it.
Thanks for playing this again, it's been a while.   A friend of mine passed away and I consider this her theme song.  She was a space travel advocate who fully intended to retire on the moon.   She had a very interesting life.
Growing on me. 3→4

I was  floored when I saw this was Kesha, who I had always written off. I definitely gave a lot of her other stuff a listen, but agree with you. This song, however, is a wonderful 9 for me. The hopefulness and optimism is a soothing balm whenever this comes on.

You are clearly, a complainer. If all you can come up with is negative comments, public or not, other listeners don't wanna hear you. Nobody likes a whiner. Find a teat, whiner.

F'ing awesome -- incredible. A modern masterpiece.

In a thousand years they'll still be playing this on AM radio (maybe still bleeping the word "damn"), and the kids will get it.

It's a children's song, to warn the kids about us adults, telling them to get out there, into outer space, to save themselves; lots of room out there, in outer space.

Just go, kids.
This has not aged well ... bleh
I'm not understanding the hate on this tune.  Love is everything.
Nice ass though.
Why is there almost no discussion about these lyrics?  She is almost alone in the industry by sharing (her own?) specific spiritual beliefs.  I would faithfully ride her spaceship...
Hated this the first time I heard it. Different mood. Its very upbeat for a song I only seem to like when i'm sad
She's right, a spaceship is exactly what we need now.
I think the suck of in-breath is to get the glass-grinding wheel spinning, a la dentist's drill.
For this and so many more Long live RP
Odd.  Sounds better and better with subsequent listens.
Love this song just a little more every time I hear it, especially in 2020.
izzit  KEY - SHUH   or  KESH - AH  ?
Kicked this up to an 8 because I always like the first half but then I got tired and put it back to 7. I think I've done that at least once before, too.
This reminds me of a dear departed friend.   Great song from an unexpected source.
What is happening to me, I actually like Kesha and this song.....

Exactly this.  I like this song.  One of the great things about RP is introducing us to songs we would have never heard before.

Ke$ha kills...
And yet again Bill presents music I would never have heard. This and Billie Eiliish "When I was older" I wouldn't normally seek out those 2 long Live RP

let me correct that for you with the addition of /s
Everytime this song comes on, I go back and try to rate it lower but alas, 1 is the lowest score.
My ears are demanding the insertion of fingers.  Dodgy album cover too.
this is a wonderful song!!

Really nice song. Thank you, RP.
Miley Cyrus and Kesha on RP on the same day. Who'd've thunk it?
This is another excellent example of why I listen to this station. Bill sends me fascinating music I could NEVER find on my own. Good for Kesha for not letting her public image define her.
I wish there was a filter to take out the in-breath. Ditto the following 'The Bee Good Tanyas' and Muse would similarly benefit! High treble mixes and breathy singers seem alas to be all the rage. The rest might not be my normal cup of tea, by hey, expanding one's horizons is the point of listening to RP
Love this song! I too wouldn't have heard it had I not been listening to RP!  That's not the first time that's happened.  Happy New Year Bill and Rebecca and thanks for the great music.
On the strength of this one song, which i love, i bought the whole album. It was a mistake.
Wait, what?
Naah - this doesn't gain with repeated listenings ...
This song typifies the awesomeness of Radio Paradise.  Bill, your musical exploration knows no bounds.  This song is really growing on me - how is that possible?  No idea.
{#Frustrated}Kindergarten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whoa, that voice and the way it's produced. Like a needle into my brain.
I dig the Parliment-Funkadelic version of this.

It really tears the roof of the mother sucker.
If you can't get along with your fellow humans, what makes you think you'll fit in any better with aliens?

No. Just no.

She forgot to mention the pilot of the spaceship had a book titled 'To Serve Man'.

Oh, that grinding vocal fry on a high note. Pretty excruciating.
Hmmm. (pause) Hmmm. Not sure about this one.
Oh no, not again ... I was hoping this had fallen off the playlist.

Wow...that is a pretty good review, both in what they say about Kesha (I'm repeating myself, but I find it interesting how you take the $ out and end up better off, eh?) and in pop music in general.  Seems folks are getting sick of (FINALLY!!) all that shit that was passed off as cool, whatever....and so I'm torn on my rating of this track.  It's a 6 and a 9, and damn it I'm gonna round up my 7.5 → 8 just for shirts  & goggles.  Long Live RP!!
I haven't located the exact locus of irritation, if it's the harsh, nasal twang of her voice, or the mumbly girlish vocalization, but this is climbing the ""Oh No, Not Again!" list with a bullet.
Waiting for your spaceship, eh?

Don't let the hatch hit you in the backside on your way out of our solar system.

I'm back to a 7 rating simply b/c of what it offers BillG for his impressive segue skills.

and ain't it interesting how you can take the $ away and end up better off for it?  PEACE!!

Bill introduced this as "something you wouldn't expect to hear on RP"

Well, that's why I am a fan of RP! I get to explore things I might not hear otherwise. Do I like it all? Hell no. Some of the afternoon jaunts into (Whatever that stuff is) can sometimes lead to a PSD, or two. Or three. I get to four sometimes and have to sign off for something else. I happens. But to me, that's the point here, there's something for everyone's tastes I reckon.

As far as this goes, Well I didn't PSD. In fact, IMO, its not bad. I liked it a lot better than many other songs I hear here. Unexpected? Well yeah! I was surprised it was this artist, and surprised by its style, and surprised to hear banjo and mando, and...... Surprised.

I would listen to it again. Would I hunt it down and buy it? Probably not.

But thank you for turning me on to it Bill! That's why I listen to RP.
This girls singing for me! LOVE THIS
love it - totally surprised who this comes from
It's a decent song, but I think I'm hearing it too often.

For the first bit I honestly considered changing my opinion of this, and then she started talking and then it deteriorated in to what I remembered rating a 2.

Guess she (and you, Bill!) is also a Subterranean Homesick Alien, as Radiohead so poetically dubbed it.
All songs containing the vocalization of  'woah ooh woah ooh' should be scrubbed from RP.
Wow.  Hard to believe this is Ke$ha.  It's fantastic and I wouldn't have heard it other than via RP.  So, thanks, Bill, for playing something so mainstream and yet so different and interesting at the same time.

YES! Good on you for playing this one, Bill!

Yes, I'm counting on Bill's ship arriving AFTER mine. Rock on, RPI!
Deep thoughts from Miss Kesha...and nice intro Bill
I'll like it when her tongue moves out of the back of her throat. And she stops pontificating on shallow pop theories.

100% agreed - I've bumped my original 5 to a 6, which is in the right direction, just like lady Ke(not$)sha - kudos to her for getting out of "the Machine."  PEACE

*EDIT* - I really like what she says at the end, and while the song seems worse off for it, the message is SPOT ON...so I'm bumping my just raised to a 6 rating to a 7.

And Have a Cigar next?  I so thought it would be Welcome to the Machine, although this worked great...segue master BillG!  Long Live RP!!

I kinda liked it. Up until the talkie part, coulda done without that.
Now that she is no longer just a cog in the pop machine (and no longer Ke$ha) we may actually be surprised by what she is capable of.  Judging by her Grammy performance, there is definitely some talent there.  Thanks for giving her some airtime, I wouldn't have heard this one otherwise!
I know this is cheez.
I couldn't make a regular listen out of it, but the track has merit. It's about something important. It's ambitious. I'll take it, and it's a catchy ear worm.

Exactly this.

I've never heard a note from her, barely recognized the name. This is fine.
Solid 5.

The first 3 average rating I have ever seen in more than 10 years of listening to RP! But I have to support Bill on this one and increase that rating with a 6! I have heard of Kesha, and know she is big in certain circles, but this is the first song of hers I have ever heard. As Bill just said, this falls into the category of "something you don't expect to hear on Radio Paradise". But I find it in general a cheerful little ditty.
Ack!
This is why I come to RP.  This song represents "variety".  It is well done.  It is bouncy.  It almost has a bluegrass feel.  It enlarges my borders.  Not a bad thing.  I first found RP as a result of a search for "eclectic internet music" (or something along those lines - it was so long ago).  Same as it ever was.
How in the world did this slip through the review process? Crap-o-la

The artwork looks like it was completed by a High School Senior for art class. Heck, I used to draw melting eyeballs back in '74 on my book covers too.
It's gonna take some time to warm up to this track...
