Aren't you glad you can still feel pain
Aren't you glad you still feel anything
Aren't you glad you can still complain
Aren't you glad you're still the same
Make you run through life when you could walk
Make you scream when you wanted to talk

Would you rather wave a flag
Or wave goodbye
Would you rather flood your heart
Or dare let them see you cry
Rather fight a war or live in fear
Aren't you glad to be here

You can't know till you do
By then lesser thieves have spoken for you
With their quiet demands
In a whispered hush
You may have to lie
When the truth hurts too much

As life traces the lines in our faces
I won't look away
Some die too young
Some live too long
How dark is gone

We're hearing alot from this guy.
That is not a good thing.
An amateur. A Richie Havens impersonator. Artless ANTIFA rubbish. Strictly for the Campus Crowd.

LOL) You are  clueless,  spitting uneducated  hate about an artist you know nothing about.
Furthermore you  obviously have never heard much of Ben's catalogue , nor seen him play Lap Slide Guitar "Live"!

Such a miss trying to tag a Richie Havens comparison on such a versatile artist!

Yes, I certainly hear artless ANTIFA rubbish in this passionate and very well-crafted song. In the translation of it into Mongolic Khamnigan, perhaps.
Thank you for your astute musical ear, but I'm not in the Campus Crowd.  I'm in the Campus Crowd That Was on Campus when Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers had just cut their first album.

wow...ummmm, that's wrong on so many levels...but then again, I'm just a peasant, not a wise king... {#Stupid}

Love Ben Harper and there are many parts of this song that are exceptional, however, for me it just doesn't work as a cohesive exceptional whole.... "7"

Agreed - 8 > 9 for me.

The world is most definitely a better place with Ben Harper in it!

Had the pleasure of seeing Ben and The Innocent Criminals last summer, a treat indeed, my first listen to this, just takes me back to the evening of last year of seeing him and appreciating how tight the band was! {#Cheers}
This is the kind of song I'd write if I could manage to finish one.
