The sky was dark this morning
When I raised my head
I stood at the window- darkness was my bane
Suddenly a sunbeam arch
Thrilled me to my weary heart
It was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen
I knew I had to keep my love
Keep my love alive
Keep my love- keep my love alive
Baby I want you to roll me
Hold me in your love
No more habits, promises and jive
Ever since I was a baby girl
Wanted one thing most in this world
It was to keep my love- keep my love alive
I want to keep my love- keep my love alive
Keep my love- keep my love alive
You're up there under the spotlight
Your silver trophy shines
With all you got, my lord! you must get high
You need a whole lot more than money
You need more than to survive
You gotta keep your love
Keep your love alive!

And that’s a good thing!

I have always liked them, you must like  beck and moby

Hearing a bit of "Tower of Strength" by The Mission in the guitarwork.
These two lovely ladies played at our junior high school dance in North Vancouver in their early days.  Sure had some young boy hearts a twitter.

I saw them play at the old Mississippi River Festival, near STL.  It was an outdoor venue, modeled after Monterrey.  Great venue.

This band always had great guitar players.

Similar, not "identical".
I am always astounded by how good Heart still sounds almost 45 years later, especially when I remember the stuff on the radio in the late 70s that I thought was good at the time but that is almost unlistenable today. This holds up brilliantly, Nancy's lovely guitar playing and Ann's unique voice.
This song is way too short.
Their songwriting, guitar-playing, and singing skills were precious and amazing things to me then, and I'm happy to say, still move me!
The band's first album 'Dreamboat Annie' was recorded in a studio here in Vancouver. The sound engineer was a friend of mine. Always felt connected to them....and....loved their stuff!
Great song and a great set by the Master DJ.
In these dark covid days of isolation and untimely deaths, the message of this song shines brightly for me tonight.

I always thought that after

"You're up there under the spotlight"

The lyric was:

"The Super Trouper shines"

as in the professional spotlight brand.

makes more sense to me...

Hey Bill, sorry I gotta tune off for a while and play my vinyl album 'Little Queen'. You keep playing tracks that segue my heart somewhere else. 'Barracuda' was underestimated as the drive behind the whole album - what an intro! By the time I get to 'Sylvan Song' memories of Fleetwood Mac are insignificant. This is a beautiful album. Seattle again!

Long Live Seattle & RP of course...+1 to 9 as I+11 the volume(one of the benefits of working from home...Heart sounds great cranked!!

How easy it is to forget just how good Heart and Ann Wilson's vocals really are.

When Robert Plant agrees, it's hard to argue.

Their rendition of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center tribute was very powerful. Plant had tears in his eyes for much of it .
saw them when they toured after this album. They were a rock n' roll powerhouse back then... they opened up their show at the Omni in Atlanta with a cover of Zepp's "Rock n' Roll".... they delivered the goods and were the queens of rock in my teens, had a crush on Nancy! Loved her cameo scene in her husband Cameron Crowe's  movie "Fast Time's at Ridgemont High"
Nancy Wilson has IMHO never gotten the immense credit she's due for her guitar skills; Heart fans know it, but she just doesn't get mentioned enough elsewhere - stunning talent!
This album was such an inspiration. The summer of 1977 I was in the middle east, this music kept me grounded. Just the best.
This song does not get played too often

Put me on a desert island with only 10 albums - This would be one of the 10 albums
Jeez, it really feels good to have contributed again and feel like I'm 'allowed' to use this great radio station without guilt. Just had to say it. Kick in if you can.
Oh, and great old song by 'Heart'.
What a sweet voice!
41 years have passed already? Time flies!

Things I learned in my 40s... Heart was a damn good band. And the sisters still got it going on.

I feel fortunate that I discovered them as soon as they released records, though my friends at that time mostly overlooked them. As is often the case with bands that get commercial airplay, the best music doesn't get on the air. They have some absolute gems, with their musicianship and soaring harmonies. Listening to them on vinyl through a good stereo is just divine.
So good to hear this on a cold, gray morning as Winter reminds us it's supposed to be in charge — it's been unusually balmy and snow-free so far this year, to the point where no one can remember one quite like this — and I rejoice how this group inspires me still...
Working away here with Radio Paradise playing in the background.  Every now and then a song comes on that stops me in my tracks to switch screens and learn the identify of a song....   just the first few bars and I'm hooked.   Love this version... really don't remember hearing it before but really enjoyable.

This sounds pretty cool after all these years.  I need to form a band called "Medievalisms Aside".

this version of Stairway made Plant cry.
I absolutely LOVED that album and especially this song. The production is so clean, it is truly beautiful. (Goosebumps) What a good feeling to hear this tune again after so many years. Awesome, RP! Just awesome.
These older Heart songs really hold up well. Good stuff!
Early good stuff! Always liked the sisters & band. Girl Power 'n all MINUS the man hating. Classy.
Love this.

How many times did we smitten teens sit there stoned staring at that fabulous album cover between bong-hits and beers? Still ROCKS

Not quite as many times as we did with their first album cover.
Uh .  that riff , that chord figure .

that is totally straight from "The Width of a Circle" by Bowie

Refreshing!
I've been really digging their first two records lately.
There is a good rockumentary on their carreer.  They could have been so much more if they would have had the correct producers.

This song is one of their best.

Check out Ann and Nancy Wilson playing Stairway to Heaven at The Kennedy Center tribute to Led Zeppelin.

You can't help but be as impressed as Robert Plant clearly was.
I think she said uhh!
Couldn't select "11" so had to settle for 10. Sure, it brings back memories that add to the score, but the song itself is definitive of the genre. Thanks so much for playing it!!
Wherever do you folks get the idea that Heart was influenced in the least bit by Led Zeppelin? Can you imagine them in the same room together?
Hm, what's this video? Could it be? Is it so?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrUM-uvoI6w

Soo Jethro indeed!
Did she date Ian Anderson or somethin'?
Opening and guitar melody line is the same as Bowie's Width of a Circle

good to hear, like when you're on the road and scan in a terrific college station that's picking these golden oldies
The best of the many one-word named bands of the time, which is admittedly damning them with faint praise.  But I find Heart's songs far more listenable today than most of their contemporaries.
Talented kick ass rockers.

Saw Heart a couple of times and the encores were usually  a Zep tune or two during there concerts.
One of the best albums from 1977 - not the Heart your Mom told you about.

Are they playing Renaissance Fairs these days?
Don't recall hearing this version in the past.. Pretty good.. Thanks Bill..
I like the addition of classic Heart to the playlist!
I love it when 'new' old music debuts on Radio Paradise. I love it when any sort of new music debuts here. Thanks for mixing it up so well, BillG.
first time for me
I haven't heard this in forever.  Nice.
My favorite Heart song!
