I've lost my mind on what I'd find
And all of the pressure that I left behind
On Allison Road
Fools in the rain if the sun gets through
Fire's in the heaven of the eyes I knew
On Allison Road
Dark clouds file in when the moon is near
Birds fly by A.M. in her bedroom stare
There was no tellin' what I might find
I couldn't see I was lost at the time...
Yeah I didn't know I was lost at the time
On Allison Road
So she fills up her sails with my wasted breath
And each one's more wasted than the other you can bet
On Allison Road
Now I can't hide so why not drive
I know I want to love her but I can't decide
On Allison Road
I didn't know I was lost at the time
So I went looking for an exit sign
All I wanted to find tonight...

agreed.

First play?  Hey, it only took 21 years, give or take.

I always liked this one.  Nice bit of jangly-pop.

Let it ring!
 Wikipedia:
In 1989, Robin Wilson passed by a sign on his way to El Paso that read "Next Exit Allison Road."... The exit sign for Allison Road is located on Interstate 10 in Roosevelt, Texas.

I had a look in Street View and there is no sign for Allison Road on Interstate 10.  There's just a little one on a side road.  The exit from I-10 is just marked as "Roosevelt".  The road does exist: https://www.openstreetbrowser.org/#map=16/30.4883/-100.0518  You can sort of see Allison Road on Google Street View but the photo quality is abysmal.

That said, this is not anywhere near El Paso, it's much closer to San Antonio, pretty much along I-10 between Junction and Sonora.
Great band live back in the day.
First heard this on my then favorite radio station 94 wave I think it was called in Charleston. They played all my favorite music. Whenever I hear it I have to run and turn the volume up.
Gin Blossoms suck! Play some smart music!

Boring pop then.... worse now

Couldn't disagree more.  This stands up very well, far better than most early 90s pop.

Just listened to this album last Sunday.  Definitely one of my favorite albums of the 90's, it's so good top to bottom.
Love the song, love the album, saw them for the first time about 8-9 years ago and the live show was a big disappointment. Seemed like aged frat boys going through the motions.
I used to mountain bike at a place called Coffee Road in Atlanta around the time this song came out. I caught it on the radio several times while drive over there. So these two things are linked in my brain.
Having a New Pleasurable Experience...Dig my Tempe AZ homies.

This is the cover photo used on the version of the album I have. Perhaps it's a UK thing?

Channeling the Byrds obviously, but also a riff from the Nightcrawlers' "Little Black Egg"...

I can hear that but I think there's also a lot of Big Star influence, which may be why they recorded this at Ardent Studios.  Then again, Chilton was influenced by McGuinn's electric 12-string sound.
God Bless Producer John Hampton and Ardent Studios.
Best song on this album, very nice

Yeah, I had to check, thinking it's some Roger McGuinn tune I didn't know about.
I'd almost forgotten this song. Nice.

This and the Jayhawks Hollywood Town Hall were THE albums of 1992 for me. I’ve always been disappointed that they were both bands who only had one brilliant album in them.

Wow, so many memories from High School...  Lots of fuzzy memories surrounded in a fog of smoke from High School as well.

Almost makes me miss those days, but being clear headed and making more than the $5.15 an hour flipping burgers part time makes up for the lack of new fuzzy memories.

I'm a sucker for a good melody esp. with some driving guitar to go with it.

1993, just come to the USA, good friends, chemically enhanced. Saw these guys backing up Cracker and the Spin Doctors in Atlanta. A seminal moment- the peak of all 3 bands.  Good memories.

Better than Cracker?  Whoah.

Nice surprise to hear this put into rotation.  Definitely enjoying this!
