Yes I'm sure Hanna-Barbera had that plot development all lined up for the kiddies. 

As has been discussed on RP before, The Flintstones was a deliberate adaptation of "The Honeymooners." Everyone knew Ralph Kramden could be an asshole but somehow the show succeeded without Alice and Norton dropping the A-bomb on Ralph.

Fred was flawed but not an asshole. My guess/memory is that he was deliberately created/shaped to be a cartoon version of Ralph Kramden (played by Jackie Gleason) in "The Honeymooners." Both characters could be loud, pushy and arrogant but they always eventually came to their senses and apologized for their boorish behavior.

The entire album is really pretty good.  I paid ~$50 for the double album  45 speed vinyl set and have not regretted it.  Industry pundits all gave it good review as well.

This is one of those tunes that seems to remind me of another tune and another time, but damned if I can remember what or when. College radio in the late 80s comes to mind though. All in all not a bad song from the southern California desert.
