Salome, uncross your heart.
I know what goes on inside, it's over before it starts.
Well I'll stay all night, I'll wait right here.
The full moon might work magic girl, but I won't disappear.

CHORUS:
And I'm tired of making friends, and I'm tired of making time,
And I'm sick to death of love, and I'm sick to death of trying.
And it's easier for you, yeah it's easier for you.
And it's easier for you, yeah it's easier for you.

Salome, untie my hands.
Well I'll find another lady, and you'll wreck another man.
It's over now, yeah and so are we.
My blood's turned to dirt girl, you broke every part of me.

And I'm tired of making friends, and I'm tired of making time,
And I'm sick to death of love, and I'm sick to death of trying.
And it's easier for you, yeah it's easier for you.
And it's easier for you, yeah it's easier for you.

Stay all niiiiight...I'll wait right heeeeere...
...and I'm sick to death of love and I'm sick to death of tryin'.
The Old 97s are a wonderful American band. "Salome' is a very good song from the very great 90s album TOO FAR TO CARE. That album's best tracks are "Barrier Reef", "Timebomb", "Niteclub", "Streets of Where I'm From", and "Four Leaf Clover" imo. Bill, play those bad boys too!

Agreed...but what do you think about their newer material?
Bill, please state when you introduce this song that they REISSUED this album last year with a few extra unreleased tracks, but this song originally came out in '97.
Now play Blue Rodeo.
I LOVE the old 97s

... this is pretty good for my Sunday morning coffee.  8 on first listen...
Rrrrrrrggh!!!  I'm still shaking in rage, that first commenter's vehemance, their outright prejudice!  Please RP Management, I think such ugliness needs to be erased from view, it is just so gross!  Thank you
Fantastic album start to finish. And one of the best live bands you'll ever see.
Really like these guys and Rhett Miller in particular.....
