Who needs a captain on a love ship?
Someone with no clue of the destination due bow
Ain't that a trip?

Who needs a diamond on a hand of stone?
Someone with the hurt who couldn't make it work,
A trophy because you slipped

Love can't conquer anything
If it's lost without a trace
You might be tough, you might even be strong
But not when you're in this place

Secret lovers – get lost in the secrets they tell
They make lovers blind when they cover every inch of their lies
Secret lovers – it's just your place of mind
A smoke and some wine is the life of the Black Valentine

Who needs a journey on a runaway train?
Your ticket isn't worth half of what it hurts
When heart beats overwork

Who needs redemption from a guiltless crime?
Someone caries dreams from scene to scene
Til they tear apart your mind

Love can't conquer anything
If it's hurting in the deep
You'll be awake, you'll twist your fate
That's not someone you should keep

Secret lovers – get lost in the secrets they tell
They make lovers blind when they cover every inch of their lies
Secret lovers – it's just your place of mind
A smoke and some wine is the life of the Black Valentine

This is their demand for another night they spend in self-conversation
It's a will they came to pose in a letter left they've composed
To repeat the situation
They lie in a loop

Secret lovers – get lost in the secrets they tell
They make lovers blind when they cover every inch of their lies
Secret lovers – it's just your place of mind
A smoke and some wine is the life of the Black Valentine

Many have said this sounds like a James Bond theme. So I think Caro should sing the theme for the next Bond movie. She would certainly be better than Adel.

I Agree!!!
SUPERB!! RP introduced me to Caro. Now, I like a LOT of her songs. I now have FIVE of her songs on "My Favorites" list!  That is why we come here.  Thanx RP!

Better than a pink sport coat and a large carnation, I suppose.
Love this song !

I too can't resist commenting that I think of Bond films when I hear this.

And exactly that is the power of RP.

You can tell she's European. Her accent is horribly predominant - which is not bad per say. Her pronunciation is just too clinical for this style of singing.

I was just thinking this is music for a Tuxedo and Martini.  I think an evil genius, a car chase and an exotic locale would round out the evening.  I need to pick up some more Caro Emerald and see if it all holds up this well.

I can see that.  A few years ago, I took up ballroom and latin dancing as a hobby.  It doesn't take long to realize, from a listener's perspective, how certain songs are made.  As far as I know, every single James Bond theme song is a Rumba.  And this is a Rumba.  Beautiful!  The Rumba is considered the "dance of love", which makes even more sense with regards to the series.  Hope this helps.

I'm diggin' this.
never heard this talented person before. love the voice and must have the hat, the cleavage or both
I find myself drawn to smooth female vocalists lately and Caro is yet another...{#Cool}
I love this!
There ya go, puttin thoughts into my head.  {#Naughty}

Are black valentines what one sends to an ex-spouse?

I like this stuff, but then I frequent "Secret Agent" on (ah-hem) another station.  Yes, me and my cheating ways.
She will have to try a lot harder than that to shock me at my age, I can tell you.
Reminds me a little of Brazilian Girls...
Spooky lyrical action over the internet.

Weird...I'm just now contemplating and writing about the phenomenon of quantum entanglement recently demonstrated across space between two diamonds hit with pulsed laser light; what Einstein called "spooky action at a distance," and I hear Caro Emerald singing, "who needs a diamond" and the tangles of Secret Lovers...THE UNIVERSE ITSELF OSCILLATES IN PERFECT QUANTUM FASHION!

Unbelievable, I was just going to say I feel like I was listening to a James Bond soundtrack.

I like some of her songs, but this one is dirge-like and seemed interminable.
Like.  A lot.  Sucker for torchy singers, though.
Wow, she has a new album.

My fav of hers is "Back it Up"
Hmnn, not sappy at all Bill, but retro indeed- cover image reaffirms that.
Was surprised to see that this was a 2013 tune, and based on this being only the 2nd comment, that this must be the first time this was played on RP (?)
She runs our radio stations up and down! Not a bad song btw.
I'm liking the pseudo 60's cover art style...like the music too. Ms. Emerald doesn't seem shocking though...
Could have been the end title music for a dramatic film released in 1957.  Where's my narrow tie?....
Caught my ear.....listening in now.
