Look, I wasn't a fan of this song or this whole album, for that matter, back when it was mega popular, but then again I was only 11 so what did I really know. My favorite bands at the time were AC/DC and The Police, but I digress. Looking back, Bruce's ubiquity during 84/85 was so overpowering perhaps the quality of all the songs on Born in the USA was missed by me because I didn't have the ears to appreciate each song as a well-crafted gem. Whatever the reason, thankfully a good college friend was a Bruce devotee and his visceral love for The Boss encouraged me to listen with a fresh perspective. Come on people. Yes, you've heard this song before and like Bruce's voice, but this is a crap song in super obvious ways. Bruce has lots of great music out there, but this is not at all close, whether you like lyrics or music. So much on RP is SOOO much better, but this gets a higher rating than countless pieces of music that aren't just pop throwaways but beautiful pieces of music. Don't give in to the disease of "I like this because I've heard it before."

This was a great concert in Tacoma, Washington, in 1984.

I am decidedly not a Springsteen fan but this is one of the few that I really enjoy.

This one gets a 10 if only for Bruce's guitar solo--a neat piece of viscious economy. Yum.

Made the Hanging Rock concert Melbourne Australia earlier this year - just spectacular ... the boss still is...the boss.
