Hello girl, or should I say goodbye.
I know now, by the look in your eye.
Though the years have treated you well,
and I know nobody else can tell.
I know why you're here.
You can't hide something like that from me my dear.

I can almost read your mind.
But you can't go without saying goodbye,
and so here we are.
Let's have one more drink
they're closing the bar.

I remember how we danced and romanced
and hovered on the brink of love
when it was new.
I thought my life began and ended
in these dreams of loving you.
But then time began to make a difference
between what we say and what we do.

But it's not everyone who gets a chance,
to ever have a sweet romance.
Baby give me one more dance.
Let's have one more dance
before burning the ballroom down.

I saw myself in your eyes,
I was a king.
You whispered in my ear
and I could hear the angels sing.
And now you're smiling into my eyes,
trying to deny all these things.

They're just memories to me now
and everything has changed somehow,
but that don't break my vow...
I loved you then,
baby I love you now.

I don't really want to know,
so when you gotta go,
just go,
but baby please don't tell me no.
Let's have one more dance,
one more dance
if it's not asking too much, give me one more dance.
Baby, won't touch me I'm burning down
one more dance - burning - give me one more dance

I'm burning down
one more dance,
give me one more dance.
It might have to last me forever,
I might never see you again.
One more dance,
give me one more dance
Baby, help me burn it down
one more dance
just touch me,
one more time...

Hmmm... that's not clear to me at all. Maybe I'll add a text filter to the site that will replace the words "can't sing" with something more accurate, like "don't care for his/her voice".

I'm rating this hidden gem track as an 8; 7 +1 for this Awesome BillG snarky reply!  Not only snarky, also right on considering how loose a lot of folks are with their language (myself included) - saying stuff like "I hate U2" when really I mean "I'm not a fan of this."

Long Live RP!

This comment from the year 2012 nails it!

Sounds like the Soggy Bottom boys' ill-fated country/rock album... let's say it hasn't gotten any crisper with time. Still reflecting severely limited musical talent and energy!

More ARA please Bill.

Love the Aces.  Second anything from "Too Stuff to Jump" or "How do You Spell Rhythm?"
man I'm 10'ing this strong piece of music, it's way cooler than an awful lot of recent stuff
Amazing Rhythm Aces are definitely the lost band (allow with Wet Willie). You can pan these guts but' you're missin' the music. Listen better.
The Aces how much good music and fun H. Russel Smith lead singer brought with them.
This does nothing for me. Just drags on and on......PSD time
As long as we're saying who it sounds like, I'm going with Steve Forbert. Or vice versa, not sure.

edit: Now sort of a Gourds' Kevin Russell sound.
Ageless cover. Aged song.
Hello song! or should I say goodbye..

Interesting. It's the Lionel Ritchie aspect that is making me reach for the mute button. Eeeuuuuuw. Later...

that kind of nails it!  sounds so good at his late work hour, draws me away to check their background, thank you sici!

{#High-five}
Recorded in 1978. Oh boy, here we go again. Amazing how much of that decade is now a complete blank.

Late Willy was one of a kind!

And a great-great entertainer, singer and songwriter!

I very much miss the man with the red roses and the bleeding arm!

But your are right - even though Willy had a much "blacker" voice, the arrangment

is pretty much simelar!

Dig this song...but it's interesting how mixed the opinions are here.

Great sound. Reminds me of listening to 8 tracks riding in the back of my fathers car. Alot of that 70s country sound soothes the soul.

Absolutely Sweet! Already off to buy it!
Thanks again, RP, for the great enlightenment...

Anything off of "Too Stuffed to Jump" would be fun to hear.

The End Is Not In Sight or Dancing the Night Away might sway some negative opines here. And yes, he can sing, it's just that guy doesn't care for the voice.

I second that emotion, LPCity.
I thought this was John Hiatt singing until I checked.
I love the Amazing Rhythm Aces, but never heard this particular song.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Had to run to the Squeezebox to see if I was hearing who I thought I was hearing!

Can you make an exception for Tom Waits?  {#Cheesygrin}

Clearly the guy can't sing, but the music and lyrics are good. Reminiscent of Graham Parker or Disciple of Soul/Southside Johnny perhaps.

It's so infrequent that I hear a song on RP that makes me cringe/shudder/wonder how it ever made it to the playlist.

But it does happen...
