I am nothing without pretend
I know my thoughts
Can't live with them
I am nothing without a man
I know my faults
But I can hide them

I still keep my baby teeth
In the bedside table with my jewelry
You still sleep in the bed with me,
My jewelry, and my baby teeth

I don't need another friend
When most of them
I can barely keep up with
I'm perfectly able to hold my own hand,
but I still can't kiss my own neck

I wanted to give you everything
but I still stand in awe of superficial things
I wanted to love you like my mother's mother's mothers did

Been listening to the song for at least 8 years. My kids have heard it hundreds of times.
My 17 year old just commented that he likes this song and one big reason is because of how creepy this verse is:

I still keep my baby teeth
In the bedside table with my jewelry
You still sleep in the bed with me,
My jewelry, and my baby teeth

I like that line too.

A 'possible meanings' or 'lyric translation' project would be fun. Given his summary of this lyric, I nominate oldsaxon to be a Contributor!
Absolute noise.

Ha, was just talking about trees with my husband, re: below :-)
I like this song.

You mean where it got really good?
Sorry it wasn't easy-listening enough for you.

Nice vibe Bill.
3 artists I don't well or at all, and now want to get to know better.
Keep it going: {#Motor}
Still,  it takes an invitation from some mother
And,  she won't trust me, lest I turn it into a tiger lilly
Now I guess my own mom  gets a postcard.from
Don't know so many places, and one to send.
It's bands like this that keeps me interested in (relatively) new music. Very compelling.

Agrerd!  Ruined a great listen.
Excellent to see this still going strong since I uploaded it a little over three years ago {#Cheesygrin}

The singer sounds like she keeps all her teeth at the side of the bed in a glass, not just her baby teeth.  Brilliant song, though, and great album right through.

Interesting. (This is always complementary, incidentally.)
Gets better with each hearing.  ↑8.

p.s. that just raised it to a 7.4.  Good, I'm glad.

I'd keep kids away from these lyrics:

I still keep my baby teeth
In the bedside table with my jewelry
You still sleep in the bed with me,
My jewelry, and my baby teeth

I think it's mommy-separation issues. (Keep in mind, some children continue to nurse well into preschool, even grade school.) This whole moany-groany "movement" so prevalent in popular music this past decade... Yuch.

Well, whatever Toronto has, it just spread to the wet coast.

Had to stop and listen.

Heard this used to good effect the other night in the movie "Safety Not Guaranteed." Just love it.
I'm really liking this. I too will need to download it.
This is an immediate EARGRABBER!!!! First listen. I'll bet it ends up a 10 anyway so here it is. GODLIKE.

I also started with an 8 and an iTunes download.  So I hope the second and third listening is just as favorable so my $1.29 wasn't wasted.

So far, so good.

The Zombie Apocalypse rules {#Dancingbanana_2} Can't get this song out of my ears and can't stop listening to it since I was electrified when hearing it on The Walking Dead series
Interesting, I really like the way this song starts and builds but I lose it when all that fuzz guitar kicks in. It's like two different songs.
