All I ever wanted from those eyes
Was the beautiful friction
All I ever felt was a loving contradiction
As life waits to begin
Born by an act of rejection
Lost to time, forgotten lives
Return to a connection

I've been pulled apart, washed aside
Never indifferent to
Who ain't struggled with the compromise?
Only to realize
There's a beautiful friction
Beautiful friction
Beautiful friction
Beautiful friction

As the decks wayed side to side
Caught sight of the ship's reflection
A lonely mast in a perfect storm
Clings on to its direction

I've been pulled apart, washed aside
Never indifferent to
Who ain't struggled with the compromise?
Only to realize
If I could listen to
Let you in
Tell you it's all right
Staring at a changing sky
Only to empathize
With the beautiful friction
With the beautiful friction
Beautiful friction
Beautiful friction
Beautiful friction

All I ever wanted from those eyes
Beautiful friction
All I've ever felt was
Beautiful friction
As Life waits to begin
Beautiful friction
Beautiful friction
Beautiful friction
Beautiful friction

Followed by The Republic Tigers' "Weatherbeaten":
'Cause I can see the lighthouse
    We can see the lighthouse

I see what you did there ;)
Ah, something nice to wash that "Dead" out of my ears!

This seems to happen to a lot of British bands, especially from the 70s and 80s: they have one or two big hits in the US, get pigeonholed as a band from a certain era and fade from view. Most people in the US assume that the bands folded long ago, but they keep producing music. The Fixx have been going since '79! Big Country went on for decades after the 80s as did Simple Minds.

Song's pretty great!  Thank you for the reference Proclivities, he is a very interesting artist/musician

"Stand or Fall' was the first song I heard from them back in '82. Nice they're still around. Solid 8!
Apparently these guys have matured. Very nice.
real nice song.
Very nice, I had no idea these guys were still making music. I only know them from their handful of '80s hits. If this song is any indication, some exploration of the rest of their catalogue may be rewarding.
I likey newer Fixxage.

Very Nice!! I have this new CD in my regular rotation for a few months now. Very well crafted throughout!!

You can thank Stephen Tayler for that. BTW, He was kind enough to post on the message board at www.thefixx.net with answers to questions people had about the mixing of the CD.

So, I was listening to this, and thought to myself, that it sounded like Bryan Ferry, or Brian Eno. So I came over to see who it was, and saw it was The Fixx.

I'm kind of mind fucked by the whole thing.

Really dig the updated for 2012 Fixx.  Does not sound dated.

Never got into them back in the day, but this song is quite good. Had no idea that this band and the Psychedelic Furs were still going (reuniting?), let alone touring together.
I like the squeaky wheel sound at the end of the song...an actual beautiful friction.

And everything before that sounds just so right.

I'm bumping it up to 8.
high point artistry
The mental association from their name to the dead runner is inescapable for me.

Still like the track, though.
First listen: Most Excellent
Second listen: Outstanding

Third listen will surely be Godlike
I LOVE these guys! So glad to hear they're still going strong.
Very few "genre" bands can stay current.  So nice to see that these guys have.  NICE tune.

Someone here said they've never left, but they sure did go deep underground in my world.  So to me, this is a solid comeback without sounding at all dated or like they are trying to relive the past.

Really good work guys.

Merci!
The words perfectly suit this moment of my life, Beautiful Friction. Somehow the music sounds clear, detached, flowing and the voice dark, contrasted, tormented. It's going to grow on me.
Love this, love them.

first of their new stuff I've heard.  Quite likeable.

They are opening for the Psychedelic Furs in January here in Santa Cruz. That should be fun.

Hey Linden, thanks for mentioning the tour.
I just bought tickets to the January 4th show at the Uptown Theatre in Napa{#Dancingbanana_2}

Too bad RP can't get a cut of that action;)
All the new stoners in Washington are bopping along right now...
Very nice!!!
The Fixx brings back sentiments of the eighties, 7>8
Instant 9.
Always loved these guys.

What? The Fixx with a new album in 2012? Gorgeous!
I recognized that sound immediately, but I couldn't put a name on the song. Great great great, I'll check this album at once. Thanks Bill {#Bananapiano}

Yeah!!!!  Me too - thought I was mis-reading the date or something...........  I had not heard anything about this coming out, what a nice surprise!  I will DEFINITELY be checking this out.
Yes...getting my fixx today!

I had to check that the website wasn't broken! What a treat to hear them again.

Saw these guys last week here in New Hampshire at a small venue. The band was great as were most of the new songs as well as the oldies. I would recommend going to see them if they are around.

What!?!  Where did they play?  Coming from the adjacent state, I would have definitely gone to see them.  Liked them live.
Very cool.  Shocked to see the band name again, after er, uh, too many years (shocked in a good way).
I was trying to figure out why I didn't know this tune?!  New Fixx!  Nice nod to their older style but updated in new music.
Very nice to hear new material of The Fixx, one of my favorites since the 80's.
Friday a show in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands, after many many years.....
:)
Quite a likable tune.  Cool cover art.
I like it. Thought it was Bowie for a minute.
Nice to hear a real good tune from the Fixx and have it be current.
Whoah, blast from the past to see who this was — and it sounded pretty good!  Always liked them, and looking forward to hearing more of this new stuff!  Thanks, RP!

Had to get up to see who this was. Who'd have guessed?
Very nice!!

Yup. Most people think of "One Thing Leads to Another" when it comes to the Fixx. "Beautiful Friction" is a simple song, but has this sonic transporting quality.

BTW, I counted 4 plays, but only 3 are registered. Dunno if the Labor Day holiday threw it off or what...Anyway. Thanks, Radio Paradise!

"If the fates of its early 80s new wave peers are any standard for measurement, the Fixx should be long gone. But the band itself has always shirked comparison, so why shouldn't we?"

Awesome. Really good to hear The Fixx again!
The Fixx, really? Always liked their music, but never would've guessed this was them, probably because I haven';t thought of them in a couple of decades.
decent song, nothing groundbreaking, be interested to hear more.
Good grief, I've been a FixxFan™ forever, have everything they did up through INK in the early 90s. Recognized Cy's voice right off the bat. Gotta search this album out. Got a great, updated  'Woman On A Train' vibe with the keyboards.
Awesome!  Thanks again RP!

Saying the Fixx is back is misleading. They've been around doing live shows, and now they have an excellent new album. The band's lineup is the same one they had in the 80's, and they're playing better than ever.

So glad to see this on here. It should only be a matter of time until some of the other amazing tracks from this album are played more frequently.  Just Before Dawn and Small Thoughts would go nicely on any playlist!

I've often wondered what happened to the Fixx. This song is likable - perhaps the rest of the album will prove to be good as well.

Thanks for adding my upload! The Fixx have truly outdone themselves this time around.
Thank you for adding this awesome new album to the rotation!!

10th studio album and first in seven years.  Danny K Brown is back in the fold, nearly four years spent on this album.
Even the album cover is from George Underwood, who did several covers of theirs in the 80s.
Buy it!
