Yellow flowers
Bought today
I bought 'em from the man who lives in the other way
Wilting flowers
Couldn't stay
Not enough water gotta fill 'em to the brink today

Another moonshine
Oh, moonshine
Moonlight halo gonna tell about a coming rain
Another moonshine
Oh, moonshine
Moonlight halo gonna tell about a coming ...

I don't believe it can be verified
I don't believe it can be put right
It's too confused in all of its facets
It's too complex in all of its ways
They just continuing to tell me their trouble
They just continuing to tell me their lies
They don't believe in helping their brother
They're standing still and hearing his cries
If you believe that you got the power
If you believe it deep in your heart
You're on the run in front of a gunner
You're on the run and no one said start

I said moonshine
Oh, moonshine
Moonlight halo gonna tell about a coming rain
Another moonshine
Oh, moonshine
Moonlight halo gonna tell about a coming ...

Red moon rising, dogs are howling
Throwing stones at Willy on the other side
Octogenarians intermarrying
What you gonna do when the light goes out?
Madly scrambling in the brambling
Up the mountain like a frightened trout
Killing relieves the hunting imperative
Maiming relieves the sadist's delight
They don't believe in what they are doing
I do believe that they are uptight
Safe and secure in maudlin commodities
Smug and pedantic into their lives
Stupidity can never make answers
Pathos is there in all of its might

I said moonshine
Oh, moonshine
Moonlight halo gonna tell about a coming rain
Another moonshine
Oh, moonshine
Moonlight halo gonna tell about a coming rain

Talk about after, there's gonna be laughter
Talk about after, yeah, there's gonna be laughter
Talk about after, heh, there's gonna be laughter someday
Talk about after, there's gonna be laughter someday

Another sunshine
Oh, sunshine
Sunshine comin' gonna be another brand new day, yeh
Sunshine comin' gonna be another brand new day, ah
Sunshine comin' gonna be another brand new day
Sunshine comin' gonna be another brand new ...

I love Shawn Phillips. I met him when he played in South Africa a few years ago. My favourite is Woman. Please play more Shawn.
Are you just pulling our chains. Bill?  Didn't much like him back in the "A&M Years" either.
No PSD on my iPhone... :(
...cool!..
Blast from the past! Not so keen on this song, but I used to play Rumplestiltskin's Resolve to death back in my youth, and haven't thought of him in decades!

Thanks, Bill! On my download list!

This is great, so is "The Ballad of Casey Diess" from Second Contribution" by Shawn Phillips.
Heck Yeah!
He just played some venues in Houston and Austin (I think) recently....good to know he's still performing....sans the hair (which, if any of you older folks remember was RIPPED out in a motor boating accident a zillion years ago!!!  outch)
This would be marginally better if it didn't have the onset of the modulated 'chorus' effect on his voice when he holds the note. Very irritating...then again the whole thing fits that feeling. Not overly impressed with this one from an artist I do like.
thanks for playing this——i only have it on some old tapes.
I heard only two words and I knew who this was!
Totally lost concentration on my job.
Not anywhere near a favorite but sure takes me back.
He was big in Minnesota in the early 70's.
Been a long time since I heard this artist.

ditto; it took a few moments for me to come round and appreciate Mr. Phillips' sound.

Just currious then - what IS the best song on his Collaboration album, in your opinion?

Not familiar with this album, but Second Contribution is a solid album.  Sadly, all the tracks uploaded from that have been sorried.
Oooh. Janis Joplin on PSD!

If memory serves, this isn't the best song on the album but it's not the worst either.

Very good to see Shawn getting some play time again somewhere - and where better than RP.  Moonshine is one of my favorites by Shawn - and very special kudo's to Peter Robinson on the Synths - pretty amazing stuff going on there.  Maybe there will be more Shawn to come... never can tell.  Thanks RP.

Was working away and something about the voice started nagging at me - really eerily familiar. When I looked at the artist info, all was answered. Thanks RP!

Wow, can hardly believe I'm hearing this on RP! Longtime favorite. Yeah!!! More more Shawn...:)
I remember seeing him a couple of times in Montreal in the early 70s, he put on an excellent show.
Well this takes me back a few decades.

Haven't heard this for ages...
Wow —- Great song
