the notorious-website is actually down but here's some info about the amazing fiddler :-)
Wrong Wikipedia link
The information page is pretty funny.
Add this to the list of most awkward album covers.
Lovely! Thanx RP!!!
At the start of this fabulous tune...First thing I thought of...

Amazing musicianship!
Niiiice
My car stereo shows a picture of the artist playing, the pictures of the artist are somehow pulled from the ether webs, and usually looks like a mug shot. However, the picture for Notorious pulled a picture of The Notorious B. I. G. !!! Kinda funny seeing his face with this band.

Romanian = from Romania, a European country that has an area of
92,046 square miles, with a population of around 19 million people (who are called ROMANIANS).

Gypsy
= ROMANI people, originating from India, scattered all over the world, there are more than 15 million of them.

So no, it's not the same.

Just plain fun!
The Wiki for this was less than informative but the material is very likeable!

I start dancing in my chair to this song as I sit here doing work and then I go to check the name of the song; and it's called Romanian Train Song and I'm Romanian and no other find on RP has been more awesome :)

Multumim ca ne ascultati :)
There's some fire in this one! 8
Reminds me of 'Oost-West Express' by the Dutch group Flairck.
What can I say...  RP is simply the best listening experience ou there, at least for me it is.  I grew up in Romania, so you can imagine my reaction when I heard the "thanks for listening" announcement in Romanian, followed immediately by this song 😀
Gypsies have arrived🤸🤸🤸🤸🤸

Yeeeeeee Haw! It's pretty cool to hear this sound coming all the way from Romania. I met an awesome mandolin musician from West Virginia, Danny Nicely, who tours occasionally with Mark Shatt, from Nickel Creek's studio recording of Why Should the Fire Die. Danny told me of his travels around the world and a project he's working on with all the ethnic music from the Himalayas in India, and Chinese and African music, that he says has astounded him because he's finding that all cultures even though speaking in different languages, do share some common melodies that he is trying to catalog. Danny's expertise is good ol' solid old fashioned West Virginia blue grass music, so that he's on this mission is pretty cool. This group from Romania, has learned blue grass, but I wouldn't be surprised like Danny says that the Romanians play some of these same melodies in their own folk music. Amazing world, music might be our saving grace.

When alien anthropologists uncover the remains of our civilization in one million years, they may marvel at the wealth of our music catelog, if it hasn't turned to dust like most of the rest.

Ha! I was on a cycling trip in that area and in the nearby Sibiu went into a little bistro and noted how great the music was and then... Bill's voice comes on!  ...RP lives there too. :)
Man, those opening notes really unclogged my pores!
Brilliant
Well this Devil went up to Brasov to ski :) . Have your tall boy can on a 'patio' waiting for your train - book the right class so you can piss in comfort. And then ... in a RestoBar in Brasov - Radio Paradise is always on. Small world.
This song makes me go to cellar and retrieve my violin and learn this part, It's been a decade since I left the violin...

Rock n roll baby..in the context of RPs eclectic musical selection...it was a masterful dj manoeuvre..and tickled my ears and put a smile on me face :)
What was I thinking when I rated this a 4? It's more like a 2 at best

Larry Unger, Jay Ungar.

In my defense, Larry did play on a Ken Burns soundtrack, my brain just made the leap from there all by itself.
