Won't you run underneath the door.
Take my home, treat it as your own.

My mother told me don't you run away,
Because it takes a man to keep them hungry,
But I'm so damn cold,
And if this blood don't turn to gold
I think I'm doomed.

Ooh, Yeah.

The time has come my friend to run,
I bid you please to take the roses an the loaded gun I left you
'Cause I'm hopin' now you find somehow
That I'm so damn cold,
And if this blood don't turn to gold,
I think I'm doomed.

Ooh, Yeah.

“The world is filled with people who are no longer needed. And who try to make slaves of all of us. And they have their music and we have ours. Theirs, the wasted songs of a superstitious nightmare. And without their music and ideological miscarriages to compare our songs of freedom to, we'd not have any opposite to compare music with --- and like the drifting wind, hitting against no obstacle, we'd never know its speed, its power....”
― Woody Guthrie

If Woody Guthrie were alive to today, the powers that be would spirit
him away to GITMO. Instead the rich tried to co-op his music and built a
museum to him in Tulsa. Woody would have hated the exit through the
gift shop.  Billed caps reading BE THE MACHINE. T-shirts bearing Woody's likeness. It's gives you nausea.

Finally looked at the lyrics to this... what IS he on about? A tasty word salad, but word salad all the same to me!

Winter's cold air is running under his (the narrator's) door, soon to claim his house and freeze him (literally) to death, and if his blood doesn't change to gold, he'll have no way to save himself and his family from this situation.

His mother told him not to run away (abandon his family) because it takes a man (deeply determined person) to keep them hungry, meaning, "Keep the family together despite the knowledge of their desperate conditions."

He asks his friend (wife, I suspect) to take the loaded gun and save them both by shooting him (the narrator) and running (the friend/wife).

.
.

IMHO, of course,  and with deep thanks to Ms Shirley, my seventh-grade English teacher.

Agreed !

Great band!
There aren't many Strine bands that become world-famous, so it's ripper that this lot have made it to the world stage. For those in the UK and US, the boys are doing a tour now - see the Events page on their website.

B&B and Midnight Oil help, in my mind, to wipe the association of Oz with the intensely irritating and twee Men at Work. If not for RP, I'd not have heard them, so once again my great thanks to Bill and Becky :)

Yes, and still missed, but remembered with fondness by us old stagers.

For sure, you've over-pasted to an anti-social degree. Basically, "overplayed" = you think it sucks. If you liked it, then you'd not complain about "overplayed". So why not just write that it sucks instead of getting on folks' tits?

Sadly, the number of times a song is played is no longer displayed in the song info, but it's rare in my RP experience, which goes back some years, for a song to be played more than 5 times a month, if that. An artist might get played more often, but not individual songs.

hey fred, if you click on the picture of the album, the number of times a song has been played in the past 30 days appears.  for this one, it is three.   btw, i agree with your post.  {#Music}

Don't harsh his OCD buzz, otherwise he may have to type that crap all over again.  Give him his sippy-cup and he'll calm down.  This song is pretty bothersome though.

A boy and a bear went into the woods...
They put me a bit in mind of Fleet Foxes.  Like it.
Never heard of them until yesterday when I read an article about what music hipsters like (trying to educate myself), and this group was mentioned as a favorite of hipsters.
Yeah Buddy........... nice song {#Dancingbanana_2}
Aaawooooo!
This is a pretty good song!  I had never heard of this band, but I like them.  More, please?
the little noises they make at the end of the song makes me happy.
I wasn't aware of this EP. I've listened to quite a bit of Boy & Bear's 2011 album, and it's one of my favorite finds of the year, thanks to RP. This one sounds more Mumford & Sons-ish, but there's much more variety to this band's sound than M & S.
