Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey
Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey

Well, I found him in Pensacola
In a trailer in the sand
The man from the picture
Creased and yellow in my hand
Creased and yellow in my hand

He was squinting and stubbled
And standing in the door
He said, "If you've come to take the car away
I don't have it anymore
I don't have it anymore"

Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey
Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey

He got the gospel on the radio
And the gospel on TV
He got all of the transcripts
Back to 1963
Back to 1963

He said, "I sold my blood for money
There wasn't any pain
But I just can't stand the feeling
It's in someone else's veins"
It's in someone else's vei-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey
Vei-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey

Mama took me aside
And she tried to change my mind
She said, "Don't waste your time in looking
There's nothin', nothin' left to find
Nothin', nothin' left to find"

So I left him in Pensacola
In a trailer in the sand
The man from the picture
Creased and yellow in my hand
Creased and yellow in my ha-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey
Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey
Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey
Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey
Hey-hey, yay-yay
Hey-hey, yay-yay
Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey
Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey
Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey
Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey-hey-hey-hey-hey

They still say that?
Great song lyrics, but the yodeling and wailing are too screamy for me to enjoy it.

"Sweaty and glorious." Perfect!
I've been listening to RP for a few hours today and when this song came on, BOOM! Had to turn it up.
Rarely do the lyrics of pop song stand out.  Here the lyrics drive it . . . stunning.
ENOUGH ALREADY!

øhøøøøeeyah, øhøøøøeeyah, øhøøøøeeyah yeahay

Sure.
Haunting song- a daughter with only an old picture of the father who left years ago for whom she's searched.  Nothing left to find
i'm usually indifferent to Joan, but the vocals on this are fantastic.
Hey-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey...Its done!

Yeah, Great Tune. Thanks RP.
Maybe Haters would prefer the Hooters.

From pop radio song to no one you have probably heard before.  I've seen her live... in 2003 I believe.  She, and a few other guest musicians played... toured with The Dead.. 1st tour after Jerry passed.  She was in good company.

Lyrics are hard.

This is the third time today I have heard a Joan Osborn song
I actually thought she was Ozzy's daughter for a while, but even when I did, I thought..."how could that be?"
I really try, but there is just something about her voice that grates on my nerves.

You hear bad, I hear strong, emotional singing from the heart in the blues tradition.
God how I love this song. haters be gone with your bad taste.

Yup. Especially Relish. I had this CD, a lot of people in the 90s did. I listened to it a lot back then, but it's one of those records that'll just always be stuck in a certain time and place for me. Not even any nostalgia for this one.
Cloud Cult
Nick Drake
Radiohead
Air
Snow Patrol
The Donnis Trio
Gomez
C - C - C - Combo Breaker Joan Osborne!

:(
Nice guitar break. That's not yodeling. Come on.
She's a great performer live, but I'm getting sick of her on RP.  Just saying. {#Sick}
Who put the Florence and the Machine effect on this one? Ack!
The beginning to this one made me rush for the Sucko-Barfo rating within 3 seconds. Impressive!
this is some god awful nonsense...
Absolutely annoying!

Normally, I love Joan Osborne, but she can't yodel. Kinda like a white dude trying to rap.

One of my favorite recordings-this song is not yodely...its piratey!  Matey!   All the transcripts back to 1963!  Me bloods in someone else s veins!  Yikes{#Surprised}!

Yodelin' in the valley...
That there's some bad singing.
The vocals are just plain dreadful.

wow...not good
OMG this is horrible.........{#Stop}
This song always fascinates me.
I came to say that that has to be the absolute worst opening to a song I have ever heard...and it continues.
And I see that I have been here to say similar before...
Wow, this is bad.
Good tune, when you think about its paternity story.
Oh dear!
not feeling this riff
This song sucks, period.
I like about 80% of this song.  The problem is, the 20% I'm not fond of is simultaneous with the 80%.  Does this always happen with Joan's songs?
This is great.   Not the Florida part, though.
Wow, powerful song. I know someone who met their birth father and left them behind as well. This may or may not be autobiographical for Joan, I do not know.

Certainly, let me be the first to comment.  Only caught the end but sounds nice.  Gave it a 7.
