I try not to let the fact that the image she portrays publicly makes my skin crawl affect what I think of her music - I think I managed, but I still don't like this track. Or any of what I've heard of hers - that voice is dreadful (to me).

I love how slowly Adele has generated her output, which kind of goes well with the fact that these are her songs.  I'm even more impressed with the song "easy on me" from her 2021 release "30) - it might be one of the most powerful and simple songs I've heard in the last 20 years.

Sorry folks, but there are no points for hating talent, even one so popular.

She has one of the great voices so far this century.  If you're not sure, see her live.  I wouldn't have gone to see her on my own, but after being pulled to the show (kicking and screaming)... the girl can sing!

Great voice, writes her own songs, obviously very talented.

I almost liked this the first couple of times I listened, then got very bored very quickly on subsequent occasions.
Now I just want it to stop as soon as it starts. {#Stop} From other RP listeners' comments I can see I'm not alone... 

What a strange song - some people absolutely love it, I can't define anything wrong with it, but it has the same effect on me as Chinese water torture!

I very rarely dislike strongly the music on RP, but this is an exception. Massively over played over here, and there's something about her voice that really makes my skin crawl...rather like the late (and unlamented, by me), Whitney Houston. Thanks for the PSD button, Bill!

She has an exceptional voice not needing any electronic enhancement, and writes her own stuff. In today's world of corporate McMusic and the X Factor (more like the 'why?' factor), those are two increasingly rare attributes which stick out like diamonds in a dungheap. I for one thank RP for playing Adele because I never listen to FM stations (mostly because they give me earache and raise my blood pressure unacceptably).

What I find so grating is the little splatting squeaks she puts just before each of the high notes. It's a lot like the squeaking some guitarists make with the left hand as they move from chord to chord. I find it really affected and hard to listen to. A cheap way of getting pathos into the voice. And it's a popular sound now among female singers.

There was a "Later with Jools Holand" episode this weekend that looked back on new/young acts of the past season.
He saved the best for last: Adele singing this live about a year ago.

A truly excellent performance.
Fantastic.
Probably better than the studio version.

Jools seemed proud when announcing her.

The first time I heard this song, I was immediately captured by her strength in her voice and her passion and I bet it was borne from a true-life situation, which a lot of song writers/singers draw from, personal experience.

I've heard other songs by her, but I always feel like she's trying too hard. I'd love to hear her do something slow, smoky, and requiring less amped-out vocals. She has a great voice - I think she should be herself instead of competing with the likes of the "flavor of the day." Just my opinion.

I am really beginning to understand the powerful draw of Adele.  This is the very first time I have heard this track and I am completely blown away.  It is definitely not your run-of-the-mill pop song and speaks well to the diversity and range of this promising young artist.  I am really looking forward to seeing her expand her repertoire into other genres something like Linda Ronstadt has done.

I was lucky and managed to get tickets for her show earlier this year in Paradiso in Amsterdam. Great gig, great voice, lovely and funny girl. She brought the house down. But I do not have to hear her twice an hour, every hour, of every day like on some radio stations over here. So I turn to Radio Paradise, and guess what.... Just kidding {#Smile}

Think about a lot of the great songs of your youth - that stick in your mind in part because they played on the radio all the time no doubt - but in part because they are really great songs.

Screw the genre labels - pop, rock, soul, disco, hip-hop whatever, there are great songs and there are - as you put it - blech songs.

Rolling in the deep is a great song.

Yeah, I know what you mean. My daughters listen to this CD (21) and the one right before it (19) a lot. She can certainly sing, no question about that and she avoids a lot of the "if I can hit the note then by all means I must" pitfall that a lot of "pop" singers fall into. Still as someone else said, its pretty "poppy" and not so much in a way that I like...
