Staples or not!

This is bullshit and boring!

This is cotton-fields - not ROCK!

It's not even that. It sounds more like a Dorito's commercial to me. This has absolutely no life or soul to it, which is depressing in light of its subject matter.

This is a fine song, but I do not need to hear it every day.  Playing it once a month would be just fine.
I think it's kind of ironic that this record was released on the "Anti" label.  It must be the Anti-Satan label!  There has got to be a somewhat interesting story as to how Jeff Tweedy came to produce the record as well.

Love it.....
Yuk.

Given that this followed a Cure song, I thought it was moving into the Cure's "Close to Me".

yeah that intro was a total rip off....

Given that this followed a Cure song, I thought it was moving into the Cure's "Close to Me".  <grin>
Some of the godsquadders can really bash out a jumpin' toon, right enough. Enough to get this atheist tapping his toes - what the hey, I'm not proud :o). 7 from the infidel Nottingham jury.

Bob D wanted to marry Mavis.

Don't believe that one source? Here's Slate magazine:

In the beginning, there was the mighty Mavis Staples, whose vocal on a Staples Singers record inspired the teenage Dylan to "stay up for about a week, and who, in turn, made a gospel anthem out of "Blowin' in the Wind" after she learned that this white boy had been her fan since childhood. (The white boy had also blown harmonica on a Victoria Spivey record in 1962 and said that he was first inspired to play folk music after hearing an Odetta record.) But despite Dylan's efforts, they were not to be the next Johnny Cash and June Carter. A couple of years ago, Staples revealed that Dylan had been the lost love of her life. "We courted for about seven years, and it was my fault that we didn't go on and get married," recalled Staples, who would later regret turning down his marriage proposal because she thought Dr. King wanted her to "stay black."

wow, that's an amazing tale!
Ahh Mavis, She's part of my staple diet.

Good story. As for Mavis: if her voice was a sculpture, I would bow down before it.

Love it. Hearing it a wee bit too often, though.

Gospel music that kicks Satan's butt!
Godlike!  Started off a bit too slow, but couldn't resist almost dancing in my seat by the end.

MAVIS!!  A goddess.
I like this!
