This band broke up in 2003, but founding members Mat Brooke and Ben Bridwell went on to form Band of Horses. Carissa's Wierd was based here in Seattle, and in 2010 there was a one-off reunion concert here, and they released this compilation album. Sadly, I've never seen either band, though they're local legends.

According to Wikipedia, the misspelling of "Wierd" instead of the usual "Weird" was intentional. Guess they were trying to be weird, err, wierd.
