This is almost like an alternate-universe version of Morphine!  It's so full of layers...  I think I prefer their regular "low-rock," but this stuff is pretty good, too.

No, it's not a cover song. It's similar to "Celluloid Heroes," but there are enough differences to distinguish it from the Kinks' song.

Fred, I think the original album version (on Sandbox) might be much more to your liking; the sexiphone makes its presence very well known on that version; metaphorically, it takes the driver's seat on that track, whereas it just stretches out in the back here.

Morphine minus sax equals Ho-Hum, going by this number in which the sax very much takes a back seat. The other Morphine stuff played on RP has been the dog's bollox, so this is a bit disappointing. 3 from the Nottingham jury.

I am a Florida kid, but I lived in Central Square, Cambridge, MA in the early 90's. I lived through the "storm of the century" and another horrible winter two years later. One of the things that got me through it intact was a drinking couple of pints of "springtime" aka Harpoon IPA while listening to Mark Sandman with one of his side project bands at the Green Street Grill every Tuesday night. I miss this inventive soul.
