This tune always gets me a little worked up.   Very sexy... steamy...  gets my mind wandering and my body aching for a slow, dirty dance.

Wow, this sure is a tasty little jazzy thing! Has a certain Jazz Amidst Degrading Circumstances-kinda Tom Waits vibe — another listener mentioned him too, I now see after already posting this — all over it and that makes me love it in a funky dive kinda way, yeah!

Smooth, sultry, melancholic - images of smokey subterranean bars with wasted guys sitting at round tables crying into their beer in the early hours of the morning. Sort of like that suicidal bar scene in Airplane. Lovely song, though, very evocative - 8 from the Nottingham jury.

Interesting, thought the trumpet sounded like Kami Lyle, and had to look it up to make sure.  I've always like her since Blue Cinderella (and saw that tour), but she doesn't seem to do much other than the occastiona studio work.

2009 Americana Music Association awards Album of the Year. The song "Chalk" won the Song of the Year. Julie wrote, Buddy produced (mainly on headphones in a home studio while Julie was sleeping).

For our friends across the pond who tend to use the word "country" to describe the incredible variety of string music with folk and blues roots found throughout the Americas: these guys are about as country (from their genesis to their influences, recording apprenticeship, and contributing musicians) as it gets. Yes, it is wonderfully confusing.
