Holiday, oh, holiday!
And the best one of the year
Dozing off underneath my sheets
While I cover both my ears

But if I wait for a holiday
Could it stop my fear?
To go away on a summer's day
Never seemed so clear

Holiday, still so far away
Our republic on the beach
I can't forget just how bad it gets
When I'm counting on my teeth

But if I wait for a holiday
Could it stop my fear?
To go away on a summer's day
Never seemed so clear

A vegetarian since the invasion
She'd never seen the word bombs
She'd never seen the word bombs
Blown-up to 96 point Futura
She's never seen an AK
In a yellowy Day-Glo display
A t-shirt so lovely it turned
All the history books grey

I got wheels, I got Cutter spray
And a healthy sense of worth
Half of me is the gasoline
But the other half's the surf

So if I wait for a holiday
Could it stop my fear?
To go away on a summer's day
Never seemed so clear

This always reminds me of Weezer's "Island In The Sun."

I love Vampire Weekend, but this is not among their best songs. A limp 7 from me.
Puke.
Sounds like it should be in a commercial for teen clothes.
Nursery rhyme noodling is not appealing.
LIVE as terrible as on CD!

Public at the concert:
frantic 14-16 year olds!
What a nightmare!

 Not soon enough

Will someone please let them know their 15 minutes are over?

I find this band quite likeable. Not earth-shattering but still pleasant!

I listened to this album all the way through the other day and did not come away impressed. It may grow on me, but for now it just sits there.

Same here. I bought this album a few weeks ago, couldn't find it because I put it in the glovebox, and then listened to it yesterday on a road trip. It is a pretty disappointing album, not unlike a lot of new bands that put out a really good first album only to follow up with something less original, less from the heart. As I listened to this half baked effort, I thought of how young "first album" bands come into the studio with a boatload of songs, pare them down to the essence which is what they are or what they wish to convey and that oftentimes, is the crux of the creation of something great.

Then later in their careers, now that they are signed to a major label and expected to produce another gem, on time with their contract, they somehow lack the depth of songs, the "spark" that so fueled their initial efforts. They are no longer living week to week, struggling for that "big break" ,but instead find themselves in the land of milk and honey and those day to day efforts may dilute their intensity.

There are good songs on this record, though. Songs and feelings of the beach and living by the shores of New England/NY/NJ that really evoke memories in the listeners as well as the singers.

Overall though, not as good as the first effort.

How much are you getting paid to play this crap?

To answer your question more directly, I pay Bill the same amount I pay my cell provider to play this 'crap', as you call it.  And, I encourage him to continue doing so.

Any band that gives a shout-out to Futura is worth a listen . . .

Kinda sounds a bit like Belle & Sebastian gone Ska.
These kids these days, it's all about vampires.
Hey look they invented ska... again{#Nyah}

Your stuck in the 70's, its 2010, fyi

Right...

So, new = good? I didn't realize it was that easy.

Uh oh... it's the rare playlist purple song!  (Rating below 5.)  That generally means that either (i) this is Michael Franti, or (ii) Bill & Becca need to find a better track on this album to play.

VP FTW!{#Mrgreen}

I missed it because on my way home to watch it I was accosted by 300 armed terrorists!  .........Would you believe 10 street gang thugs? .......Would you believe an elderly security guard and his seeing eye dog? {#Redface}

Recently caught an old Get Smart epi titled "Weekend Vampire"

First line of this is dangerously close to ripping off Matty Groves...but that's not why I give it a 3.  It earns that for being just plain bad.

This is my least favorite song on the album. Thanks RP?
