Well, that's nice of you to say. Per capita, Canada always has produced a disproportionate number of great musicians, actors, comedians, etc. I'm not sure what the reason is but I think it has something to do with it being tougher to get "discovered" up here so people have to work even harder at their craft to "make it big". (Our apologies for Rush and Howie Mandel.)

people who I haven't seen in a while are often surprised to hear how 'serious' about photography i've gotten in recent years. certainly if someone had told me I'm spending a significant percentage of my time 'taking pictures' 5 years ago, I would have been highly skeptical. But, if asked to trace where my passion for photography was ignited, it would probably have been at the Legendary Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, where Kathleen Edwards was playing the (first?) MapleMusic Showcase. Long story short, I was shoved to the front with my dinky digicam, and for the first time managed to get some really good concert shot
It was all downhill from there 
Flashforward to now, its the first time I've managed to catch Kathleen since then, and its interesting to see just how my style has ... evolved since then Better camera helps too I like the drama of the shot - ironic since she's mainly known as a folk, alt-country performer
Great pic! Thanks. I just rated this song for the first time. (9) I can't say why I never rated it before. This song reminds me so much of so many women I have known who have expressed their angst over how they have fared in relationships. I suppose I should feel I suppose I should feel good that either they have opened up to me or that I HEARD them (or both), but it just makes me feel so sad that so many women are so resigned. I CAN say why I didn't give it a 10 - it doesn't even give a hint that there's any way OUT of this way of living.

Her blend of country, folk and pop music made her a favourite of music critics, and a rising star on radio in 2003 with her debut album, Failer, made popular by her hit singles "Six O'Clock News" and "Hockey Skates". Her style of music is sometimes placed in the alt country music genre.

Remember the first time I saw her live a few years ago at a mega concert in Toronto that was setup to get past the SARS crisis (I was working backstage). She was on the venue late in the afternoon—headliner was the Stones later that evening so that was the big "draw". She had been getting some radio play with her first album so not a complete unknown but imagine walking out on stage as a new performer in front of nearly a million people. Her adrenalin was so pumped and later backstage some local newscasters were interviewing her since she hit the "live at 5" time slot. She was so hyper from her time onstage that when asked how she felt she just blurted out the f-bomb several times. It was so genuine and funny to see an artist so pumped.

The whole album is a delightful 2009 discovery even though it was released in 2008.
