I've just uploaed a track called "When It Rains" from my new album P'dice for review. Has been descibed as very Peter Gabriel but this time I've got the Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) on drums

I actually hear a Peter Gabriel influence. I'm not sure what I think of this yet.

you are, but what is it?
Reminds me of Blackfield. I like it.    {#Music}
Interesting, just before this came on, I noticed an ad directed at me in the Facebook margin that said, "if you like Porcupine Tree, you should check out Paul Cusick".  Interesting music, not bad.

Phrasing fail. Theatrical is good, emotional is good, but this is just forced and wooden. Your results may vary.

Even Pink Floyd ripped off Pink Floyd... this is nice.
oh, sorry, thought this was the Roger Waters thread that talked about how much Porcupine Tree was influenced by Pink Floyd, and how the guitar track at the end is close but no "have a cigar" to David Gilmour. But I must be in the wrong place, since it's just a nice song with sgt pepper horns at the end....

Is that different than regular treacle? Does it come in a bottle and more importantly, can you draw it from a well? <asked the Mad Hatter>

 miahfost wrote:

Well put, and that's my dilemma:  Alan Parsons and Pink Floyd, among many others, showed just how good such treacle can be.  I can't help liking this.

Thank you for the play. It made my day and my son thinks I'm cool because the DJ is American. {#Clap}

Thanks for the contribution. It's good when artists come on this board if only because it reminds the rest of us not to be too rude in our comments ;)

I can barely remember high school.

Some of us remember them only too well - my secondary (high to you guys across the Pond) school was like Lord of the Flies, and affects me even now in very profound ways. Count yourself lucky I can't write songs or you'd be hearing about it ;)

For all that, I do think Roger Waters went over the top with a double album of his life troubles, but then he was a rich and famous star so could be forgiven some self-indulgence.

Unmitigated treacle.
This keeps getting better. 7 {#Arrow} 9

Perfect!   I was thinking the same... and I too, like it.

Thanks for the song Paul!  Your son should think you're cool for reasons far beyond that...and I'm sure he does.  Have a great weekend!

I actually thought "What — is this Porcupine Tree?" when it first started to play. The vocal doesn't sound that much like them but the sleepy instrumental sounds like the beginning of one of their songs. The other difference is they don't keep the sleepy vibe, that's just where they start.

Paul actually really likes Porcupine Tree, so it's no wonder his music is influenced by them. His music is quite different, though. He should have a new album coming out some time this year. It will be most interesting to see what he has come up with for his second album.

You only rated your own song an 8?  I'll give it a 9 just so your son knows other people appreciate his dad.

Good segue; I thought the U2 suddenly got way better at the coda.

Loved the tune, though it would have benefited from not having the strings at the end
Just bought from Itunes! :)

I hear PT...but that crying guitar at the end is just amazing. Nice work for Mr. Cusick. I would love to reach this level. {#Ask}

Very nice song.  But, you yourself gave it a 9, so you know what I'm talkin' about.   ;-).

It seems to be an 8 now.

The song is nice, but somehow, voting for yourself is, in my humble opinion, a bit uncool...

If you went thru your body of work and labeled everything a 10, that would be weak!

But I see nothing uncool about honest introspection.

7 easy ... this is a good tune!

Has a Pink Floyd vibe  - very like Wearing The Inside Out

Hmmm...an Optimologist.  I like that.  One who always sees things in a positive light. :)

I also like this tune.

7 teetering on an 8.

No.  But you are correct, thanks for the spelling fix.

The latter part of this song makes me think of Roger Waters. Not Cusick's voice so much as the tone and timing.
floyd-esque in the middle - almost like Mother.... i don't like the intro much - or the ending - just the middle with the piano :)

Sounds nice ... the term "old-fashioned" comes to mind but not sure why?
To borrow from RomeoTuma, this music is good for the heart...{#Sunny}

this is sweet.

This music does NOT match the album cover. Not even remotely. It shouldn't be a factor in how I enjoy the music. But it's hard getting past that hilarious cover. I can't be the only one can I?

...this is really nice...
Thank you for the play. It made my day and my son thinks I'm cool because the DJ is American. {#Clap}

My friend Paul made it to the RP playlist. WAY TO GO, PAUL!!!!!!
i thought this was the other sad piano song that is always overplayed...great now there are 2
